Located in a historic turn of the century stone mansion McKibbin's has quickly developed a reputation of being Montreal's eating and drinking emporium. Situated at 1426 Bishop Street, named after the McKibbin's from Ireland.

McKibbins Irish Pub comes across as a versatile downtown favorite with a lively, welcoming vibe, excellent Guinness and pub fare, and a calendar full of events from sports viewing to standup comedy and live music. The back patio is a highlight and the overall atmosphere blends traditional Irish charm with modern crowds, making it a dependable spot for a casual night out or a night of laughs. The menu offers a satisfying range from wings and nachos to burgers and bison, with consistently friendly service across shifts. Regulars point to Monday and Tuesday comedy nights and upstairs shows as a big draw, while the bar and beer selection keep the energy high on weekends and sports nights. Overall, it presents as a dependable, bustling institution with great drinks, good food, and strong entertainment options that suit a variety of tastes and occasions.
Great selection of taps & AWESOME genuinely friendly staff behind the bar.
The only downer on this past Friday night was the band - patrons where moving away in droves & groups walking in made a
u-turn right out.
My understanding is that the staff did speak to the them to adjust their levels i.e. you're at a pub not metalfest & that they got blown off.
Also they were playing funk & disco classics at 45 speed when it should've been 33 1/3.
Who booked them? I mean a pub equals classic rock & Great Big Sea or even Dropkick Murphys. We moved downstairs which was nice & quiet with a pretty big tv (Jays opener).
I've been here a few times & it's iconic but cam on!
On a bright note: The pint of Guinness was pretty good.
Good aesthetic & service. Shame the food & drink were underwhelming. The Guinness was badly poured & so was bitter & thin, & the poutine was smaller than explained by the waitress & swimming in a gravy soup.
(Note: many of the whiskies & scotch on the menu were unavailable. :/ why not remove them then?)

My review is very specifically showing up when it was super busy & crowded. While it chilled out before we left it was a little chaotic.
The food wasn't bad the, the Guinness burger was really good & the leek & chicken pie was delicious, but neither was out of this world (though the first bite of the burger was close.
With all the busy the server was on top of it, while the crowd felt a little over whelming when the kitchen missed our order it was fixed quickly & dealt with by the server.
I would try the place again when calmer in a heartbeat.
I chatted with two young strangers at the bar here for so long that my girlfriend (who is very beautiful) got very mad at me. The young strangers & I talked about life, love, the city, the future, the past, even our hopes & dreams. They were ex lovers who maintained a very strong bond of friendship. I do not remember their names, but I wish them both beautiful & fulfilling lives. The Guinness was excellent!!
McKibbins on Bishop is the original, &, in my opinion, the best location of this beloved Irish pub, & it's my go-to spot in Montréal for a good pint of Guinness. Housed in a beautiful turn-of the century mansion, it serves solid pub fare (don't miss the wings or the chips with curry sauce) in a lively, traditional setting. Swing by on Monday nights for the weekly comedy show upstairs(in English) & be sure to grab a seat toward the back unless you want to become part of the act! Come St. Patrick's Day, the entire place is packed from top to bottom, making it the city's marquee venue for the holiday.
Sláinte!
A great atmosphere Irish pub. They have on the menu - unfortunately, only on the menu anymore - a challenge for their Guineiniss record book hot wings. Dear management: please, either make it worth it & give some reward for the challenge or remove the challenge from the menu.
Anyways, the Guinness record book hot wings were really good. Very hot spicy, but tasty spicy & good too. I'd highly recommend trying it. They have live music during the evening.
Terrible. We went into an Irish Bar & had to ask for a drink. Table service was extremely slow with ample staff so we went to the bar to ask for a drink which we were denied & told to ask our server. Lol what a joke. Got a shotty poured Guinness & decided it leave. Considering how well w e have been treated on our trip to Montreal I was extremely disappointed for a highly rated Irish pub . Nice terrace on the back side & the doorman was very friendly Guess they don't need our business. Sad. ☘?
Annie was an incredible bartender who gave very insightful suggestions & an impeccable service. She poured my Guinness & Kilkenny perfectly! :) Thank you Mckibbons will be back!! ❤?☀?

I have been eating bison burgers & drinking Guinness at this bar for over 10 years. They have a great selection of both Irish beer & food. The live music & comedy shows are always a great experience. The only thing I recommend customers avoid are the chicken wings, it's not worth the free T-shirt.
The most authentic Irish pub I've ever visited in North America! I sat at the bar & the service was great. It was super quiet when I visited on a Sunday afternoon but quickly picked up the later it got, with a big ghost tour group coming in around 4:30 pm. I stayed for two drinks & wanted to stay for more. Would 100% visit again. OVERVIEW When: Sunday Afternoon, December 2024 Ate: Nothing Drank: x 1 Guinness & x 1 Guinness & cider $$$: $25 with tip Pros: Atmosphere, service, decor Cons: None
