The fried chicken piece was very small compared to other places but it was good, crispy, fresh & the sauce had flavour. But the bulgogi special meal tasted days old… I'm not sure what the purpose of the salad was, it was inedible, why not put some pickled radishes or kimchi or mayo coleslaw? The vegetable dumplings were mushy & tasteless. The bulgogi & japchae had no flavour, no richness. The packaged bulgogi from Costco tasted more authentic than here. The rice remained untouched, there was so much of it for absolutely nothing, it tasted dry & hard. But the absolute worst thing on the plate, the egg. Horrible, horrible, horrible, I'm so sad I can't understand all the good reviews. Did I fall on a bad day? Was it old leftovers? Impossible that people are coming back for this food. The service was nice & I ordered takeout eaten hot & right away yet I had to trash all the food. What a disappointment
We ordered the Wang Galbi (half) chicken & the Dakgalbi. Both were very delicious & was enough for two people.
The chicken was super juicy & crispy. The sauce was not overly sweet. It tasted in between honey garlic & soy sauce & it did not feel greasy.
The dakgalbi was very hot once served. It was very flavourful. I wish there were more varied ingredients such as potatoes or cabbage just like the ones I've had in Ontario. This one was strictly chicken & rice cakes.
Went there for their boneless fried chicken. Their garlic sauce is amazing.
A small improvement would be passing out more kimchi/radish side dishes.
The chicken was delicious & the staff were very friendly. The soy sauce was especially tasty, & adding extra sauce let me enjoy a variety of flavors. I'll definitely order again next time.
Highly recommended!👍
Good food, great portions! You must have the fried chicken & We enjoyed the creamy onion sauce on the side. The bulgogi udon & bulgogi special are winners.
We love to take the fried chicken combo & replace the rice for japchae. The cream onion sauce changed from what it used to be & it's even better! The pork bone soup is one meal we love during the winter season.
The service is great & the workers there are very kind :)
They have the best korean fried chicken ever! Juicy, crispy, & well seasoned fried chicken that awakens the glutton that lies within. I highly recommend their creamy onion fried chicken! The sauce is absolutely divine. I could put their creamy onion sauce on anything if they sold it in a bottle! They also do two types of fried chicken specials: boneless & bone-in chicken that comes with a soda of choice, fries/rice (respectfully), salad, fried dumplings & japchae (korean glass noodles). Their gamjatang is very delicious as well! It's full of meat & they give you a nice dipping sauce that pairs well with the pork. I also like that the rice comes fresh in a hot steel pot. Overall, it is one of my favourite korean restaurants to eat at. Honestly their prices are extremely reasonable & the portions are very generous. The food is delicious & the korean auntie who is the waitress there is always very sweet. Give Matjip a try, you won't regret it!
