The best fried chicken in montreal & its actually not even close

I'm really shocked by my order tonight… I couldn't wait to try Matjip because I did not want to drive all the way to downtown Montreal to soothe my craving for bulgogi & fried chicken but after spending 30$ for food that went straight to the garbage, I really wish I made the extra 15min drive to get Cocodak or anything else. The fried chicken piece was very small compared to other places but it was good, crispy, fresh & the sauce had flavour. But the bulgogi special meal tasted days old… I'm not sure what the purpose of the salad was, it was inedible, why not put some pickled radishes or kimchi or mayo coleslaw? The vegetable dumplings were mushy & tasteless. The bulgogi & japchae had no flavour, no richness. The packaged bulgogi from Costco tasted more authentic than here. The rice remained untouched, there was so much of it for absolutely nothing, it tasted dry & hard. But the absolute worst thing on the plate, the egg. Horrible, horrible, horrible, I'm so sad I can't understand all the good reviews. Did I fall on a bad day? Was it old leftovers? Impossible that people are coming back for this food. The service was nice & I ordered takeout eaten hot & right away yet I had to trash all the food. What a disappointment

I ordered the Vegetable Dumpling Sundubu, but unfortunately the dumplings were missing from the dish & it ended up being just tofu. When I mentioned it, it seemed the order may not have been noted correctly. The meal also only came with kimchi as a side dish.

My husband ordered the fried chicken, which was good, but we were surprised that it didn't come with pickled radish, which is usually a standard accompaniment. Overall, the food was decent, but the missing items & limited side dishes made the experience a bit disappointing.

Went for a late lunch. We had the bibimbap, beef bulgogi, & fried chicken. Service was fast & friendly. Food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The beef bibimbap & pork bibimbap were very authentic, & the seafood pancake was good too. The fried chicken was a bit greasy for my taste. Overall, a great place-I'd definitely come back.

I absolutely love Matjip - I've become obsessed. The spicy stir-fried rice cakes & fried chicken are unreal, & the beef bulgogi bento box tasted amazing. This is my go-to spot when I come home late from work - it just hits the spot every single time. Comfort food done right, full of flavor & always satisfying. Highly recommend!
