The cashier was really nice & welcoming! It was my first time there & she suggested I try the parfait mix matcha/vanilla ice cream & it was delicious! It wasn't too sweet or bitter, perfect balance. & I love that there were different toppings & textures.

Our first time here & we loved it! The matcha is delicious. My boyfriend isn't usually a fan of matcha, but he absolutely loved the ice cream-it wasn't too sweet, which was perfect. I ordered the matcha brownie & it was amazing: soft, flavorful, & the texture was spot on. Highly recommended, especially if you're a matcha lover!

My go-to place for matcha drinks & snacks in Montreal so far.
I usually order their iced matcha latte with vanilla syrup. The drink is well balanced, not too sweet even with added syrup. The amount of ice is just what I'm looking for, not too much, especially since I drink quite fast.
I am most impressed by their service. Even with a lineup from the door, the staff move through the orders quickly. Furthermore, the service is always friendly from the people serving to the people handing off the drinks. Overall, the atmosphere is very welcoming here!
Tried the Matcha Slush & Matcha-Vanilla soft serve. I'd give both a 7/10
Matcha was pretty strong but very moderately sweetened , vanilla soft serve didn't taste like anything,
No words could even describe how much I love this spot. The matcha there is really REALLY good, as a japanese person I can guarantee that it's the best place to get any matcha desserts or drinks! The food is not too sweet at all, the ice cream is always soooo good, the price is a little high but pretty much expected for the quality of the matcha & the treats. Very friendly staff, very nice ambiance, sometimes a little crowded but it's fine. Good spot for matcha enjoyers or for people who never tasted matcha, I always recommend this place to everyone!!🩷❤?🧡
I'm a regular at this place, the ice cream is delicious - big fan of the matcha ice cream with matcha cake (#17). I also highly recommend their mochi matcha, matcha cookies & chocolate matcha cookies with sea salt (trust me they are delicious).
The matcha latte is also amazing, just don't expect it to be extra sweet, if you have been drinking matcha for a while it will be great, if not I suggest to add a sweetener.

Phenomenal ice cream & customer service, we visited about x4 within 2 days. The ice cream ACTUALLY tastes like matcha, The flavour of the matcha is strong, rich & earthy, not too sweet. The ice cream is smooth & just melts in your mouth, & the toppings…😩😩😩 I got the signature parfait everytime & the mochi, cake, jelly & red bean went together so well. The only thing is that seating is very limited & the location is very busy so beware, other than that we loved this place so much we would find every opportunity to hit it up during our short trip💚
Everything at Matcha ZANMAI is so good! I always grab their Matcha cookie when I go, it's absolutely delicious. Their matcha is on the sweeter side, but that's exactly how I like it.
I stopped by Matcha Zanmai in Montreal & ordered their Signature Zanmai parfait, which I understand is the same as their special series. It was topped with matcha ice cream, matcha jelly, azuki beans, shiratama mochi, & matcha sponge cake. The flavors were richly layered, deeply authentic matcha-not overly sweet, & beautifully presented.
• The parfait was visually elegant & deliciously balanced with chewy & creamy textures.
• Matcha flavor felt genuine & robust-exactly for real matcha fans.
• Small, inviting café with a warm vibe & helpful staff.
If you're a matcha enthusiast visiting Montreal, their special parfait is absolutely a must-try!
I really loved the matcha desserts at Matcha Zanmai! Every treat I tried (I ordered six!) was full of rich, authentic matcha flavor & just the right amount of sweetness. The desserts looked beautiful & tasted fresh soft & light without being too heavy or overly sweet.
Even though I ordered quite a bit, the service was surprisingly quick, which I really appreciated. The staff seemed to know their stuff & handled the busy vibe well. They were polite, though it was a bit hectic in there.
One thing to keep in mind is that seating is pretty limited, so it can get crowded during busy times. If you want a quieter experience, try to go during off-peak hours.
Overall, if you're a matcha fan like me, Matcha Zanmai is definitely worth a visit. Great desserts, good service, & a cozy little spot. I'll be back for sure!

I recently tried their matcha & matcha ice cream, & I must say-both were absolutely delightful! The matcha had a rich, authentic flavor that really stood out, & the ice cream was smooth, creamy, & perfectly balanced-not too sweet, just right. I also gave their strawberry matcha a try. While it wasn't quite as impressive as the others, it was still enjoyable & had a refreshing twist. Overall, a great experience for matcha lovers!
What a gem!! I'm always on the hunt for a great matcha spot, so I was super excited when a Montreal local recommended this delightful Chinatown shop! The shop itself looks rather unassuming - tucked away in a little side alley with space for only a few small tables - but looks can absolutely be deceiving. They have a variety of great matcha dishes, ranging from classic ceremonial matcha to creative matcha lattes to some of the best matcha ice cream I've had in North America. It had been a pretty hot day (quite rare for Montreal in May), so I was craving something cold & sweet...the perfect mood to try out their matcha soft serve. They offer a variety of toppings, including matcha cake, mochi, red bean, & soybean powder; however, if you're as indecisive as I am, you can try them all with the Zanmai Signature.
The ice cream was phenomenal - it was rich, creamy, & not overly sweet. You can absolutely taste the earthy, slightly bitter, slightly floral matcha, balanced out by just enough sugar. The toppings also helped make the parfait more interesting, with various pops of flavor & texture; you do have to eat the mochi pretty quickly, though, as the cold ice cream tends to make the mochi harden up & become less chewy or fun to eat.
All in all, I was super impressed by this spot! The staff was friendly, the ice cream was outstanding, & the space was nice & cozy. I can't wait to come back & sample some of their drinks!

for the first time, I got iced matcha latte, & it was SOOO good. there was so much matcha flavoured, even after I shaked the latte to mix it properly. I did not add any additional syrup (it comes with two spoons of sugar), so for sweet-toothers, it might appear bitter. furthermore, my friends & I always get a matcha frappe with mixed ice cream on top to share, & it's one of the best desserts! yummy & filling :) if you are looking for quality matcha drinks & desserts, definitely recommend!
You, yes you that clicked on matcha zanmai reviews. You probably wonder: Is this even a place worth checking? What if I don't like their products? Well, let me tell you something. I used to be a person who enjoyed matcha pretty rarely, because other companies selling matcha lattes just sweetenend them too much, & filled most of their drinks with water. However, this place is on another level!!! Their matcha drinks & desserts are delicious, especially if you're a matcha enthusiast & want to refine your taste. Their foods are concentrated with matcha, & you get the perfect amount of sweetness, creaminess & softness you can get in a drink, cake, mochi, ice cream... I swear, I am buying stuff from there so often that I had to buy my own matcha at home because otherwise all my money would go to the restaurant hahaha. 10000000% recommend, you WILL love it :)
