**Disappointed After High Expectations**
I had high expectations for this Bangladeshi restaurant in Montreal after hearing good things & seeing positive reviews, especially from the Bangladeshi community. Unfortunately, it seems like as the restaurant has become more popular, the quality of the food has declined.
I ordered 2 beef tehari, but it was overwhelmingly spicy & contained over 10 pieces of dried prunes in a single plate, which was excessive. On a previous visit, I had tried the roast & found it excellent, but this time the two pieces I ordered smelled more like tandoori smoked legs than authentic roast. The test was like old.
The beef kebab was decent but not something I would recommend. Honestly, the only thing that met expectations was the Canada Dry.
Overall, my expectations were not met. It's disappointing to see a place let their food quality slip after achieving some success.
I still believe this restaurant has quality foods.Voir plus
Authentic Bengali food. I highly recommend this restaurant.Voir plus
The food was incredible! We ordered the chicken biryani & beef tehari-both were freshly made & full of flavor. The dishes reminded me of the home-cooked meals I grew up with in my Bengali family. We also got payesh to go, & it was lovely. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Bengali cuisine! :)Voir plus
A Hidden Gem in Montreal - A Taste of Bangladesh!
We traveled from Ottawa for a day trip to Montreal & chose Moonstar based on its high rating. At first glance, the entrance & décor might seem a bit underwhelming, but trust us-once you taste the food, you'll understand why this place is so highly rated.
The flavors took us straight back to Bangladesh, especially the biye bari r roast polau, which was perfectly spiced & incredibly comforting. We also had the tehari & haleem, both bursting with rich, traditional flavors. Every dish felt like a nostalgic trip home.
All in all, highly recommended-this spot is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Bangladeshi cuisine in Montreal!Voir plus

Today visited this authentic Bengali restaurant with my family for lunch, & it was a fantastic experience. Their chicken biryani & roast polao were both delicious. For dessert, the kheer, made with coconut, was exceptional. The owner was very cordial & welcoming. I highly recommend this place!Voir plus
Their Pulao Roast is a masterpiece! One bite & I was transported back to Dhaka. The fragrant rice, the perfectly seasoned chicken-it's pure comfort on a plate. They serve authentic Bangladeshi food at prices you can't beat. Seriously, can you name a better Bangladeshi restaurant? I'll wait!Voir plus
