Review Summary

Mama Bangkok is widely celebrated for serving what many consider to be the best Pad Thai in Montreal, alongside standout dishes like fish tacos, chicken eggplant, and various tofu specialties. While the service style at the counter can be perceived as blunt or indifferent, most patrons agree that the exceptional quality, generous portion sizes, and great value for money far outweigh any personal interactions. The atmosphere is modest, and although the ordering process may occasionally feel impersonal or require a familiarity with local payment methods like cash, the consistent excellence of the authentic, flavorful cuisine makes it a favorite destination for both locals and those seeking a genuine taste of Thai-inspired cooking.

Amazing food. I order pad Thai with breaded chicken & it's my favourite pad Thai. The self-service system can be finicky but it's not a problem once you know how to use it. I never had an issue with service from the cashier (maybe it's a different person) but they've been nice & to-the-point.

If you want better than average Pad Thai & are a good problem solver (order system takes some getting used to), you don't have to worry about grumpy service. It's not a restaurant folks, you don't have to tip. Just grab, go, & enjoy!

When you finally get past all the ordering obstacles, whether it's the antiquated computer system on-site you have to use to order or the reduced menu & lack of product descriptions/photos on Uber Eats, You get to enjoy one of the best Thai plates in Montreal. I used to go to their other location & loved it, but eventually, the chicken quality became uneatable, but they seem to have now reversed course & have high-quality chicken again. They just need to simplify the ordering process.

Food is great, the cashier/cook is RUDE, very very rude, I didn't know how the system worked & she yelled at me "u can't do what ever u want here" just because I ordered from the computer that was for cash only & meant to pay by card (I didn't know it was one computer for each transaction) & when I told her I didn't know cuz it was my first time there, she's screamed at me "you wanna keep talking? I give u money back, I don't give u pad Thai" It was kind of funny to see that much sass, but yeah no, the lady is very rude, be aware
