The hot chocolate is exceptional & there are excellent vegan options. Ralph, the owner, is very kind & generously remade one drink that, while lovely, was not 100% to our taste. The decor is beautiful & the space is very comfortable. I would highly recommend this gem for the delicious chocolate & the extremely welcoming & kind service. I had hot chocolate & a broccoli soup which was so so delicious. I Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great atmosphere with great service & delicious drinks & food. This is my neighbourhood. So, I know that this is the only bona fide cocktail lounge on St. Joseph Boulevard. The decor can be described as eclectic with Haitian touches. The decor can be described as charmingly eclectic, with some Haitian art influences. It's a congenial place to have a cocktail & look out over the water. I was instantly attracted to the martinis on the drink menu. The person who served me also was the one who made my martinis. He mentioned that he made them in the New York style because of his experience in that city. I was not disappointed. So much so that I could not stop at only one martini! So, I recommend the apple & lychee martinis. I did not have anything substantial to eat, so I do not know about the quality of the food there. Despite that, the cocktail lounge is a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood. When my family comes to visit, I now have a congenial place to take them for some cocktails.View more

Makaya is an incredible Haitian bistro with delicious chocolate, desserts, food, & drinks. The atmosphere is warm & cozy, with a beautiful view over the old part of Canal Lachine. We ordered hot chocolate, frappés, savoury chicken & cheese crêpes, & bought some desserts to-go - everything was amazing! While we were there during the evening, & happened to catch a beautiful view of the sunset over the water, it also makes for a great spot for a coffee break &/or brunch.View more
