I went to Mai Cuisine Thai yesterday for a cozy birthday lunch with my grandma, & it honestly couldn't have been more perfect.
This spot has been one of my favorites for a while. The space feels warm & inviting, with exposed brick & a colorful elephant mural that immediately makes it feel comforting & lived-in. It was snowing lightly outside, & watching the flurries through the window while sitting inside felt so peaceful. They also play a fun pop playlist, which I always appreciate.
My grandma loves spring rolls, so bringing her here felt like an obvious choice. We started with my staple appetizers. The vegetarian spring rolls, made from scratch in-house, are still my favorite. Perfectly crispy without being greasy, with fresh vegetables that still have a nice crunch, plus a sweet dipping sauce that ties everything together. Such a great birthday snack.
We also ordered the Thai hot wings, which come in a very close second place for me & are something I constantly crave. They were hot, juicy, & nicely crispy, coated in a spicy-sweet sauce with just enough heat to be exciting without overwhelming your taste buds.
I had my usual creamy Thai iced tea, & my grandma ordered ginger tea to warm her up.
Since we weren't very hungry, we shared the chicken pad Thai, which was comforting, balanced, & perfect for sharing.
When I mentioned it was my birthday, the sweet server brought me their homemade mango ice cream. Light, refreshing, & such a lovely way to end the meal.
Mai Cuisine Thai is one of those places that feels like a pause from busy city life. Cozy, welcoming, & made for slow lunches & good company. I loved introducing my grandma to one of my favorite gems in the city & celebrating a new year of life in such a simple, meaningful way.
As a Thai person, the only reasonable option was extremely spicy, & I ended up crying. Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted!
We had a wonderful experience dining at Mai Thai. We were a group of 7 people, celebrating my uncles 90th birthday. We ordered the papaya salad, & calamari, they were incredible. The house sauces were humming with the right balance of sweet, sour & spicy.
For the mains, we ordered pad thai with shrimp, two from their signature collection, the crispy pork with Thai basil & green curry with chicken. Everything was outstanding & delish. The food is cooked in an open kitchen & our server Goui, ( I hope I got your name right! ) was such sweet & lovely person.
Nothing was overly spicy, we loved all the dishes, the portions were generous & the flavours very authentic.
The mango sticky rice, was just the right note to finish the night.
A fantastic combination of authenticity, flavour, great food & cozy ambience.
Can't wait to be back soon.
I can confidently say this was one of the best Thai meals I've ever had! Absolutely authentic, incredibly flavorful, & made with so much care. Every dish we ordered was a hit, & the service was just as impressive!
We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp Tornado, Thai Hot Wings, & crispy calamari, all cooked to perfection. The shrimp had the perfect crunch with that addictive sweet-spicy glaze, the wings were full of bold Thai flavor, & the calamari was tender inside with just the right crispiness.
For our mains, we had the Pad Thai, Fried Rice, & Drunken Noodles, each one was packed with flavor & had that signature balance of sweet, spicy, savory, & tangy that Thai cuisine is known for. The Drunken Noodles in particular were a standout - perfectly chewy noodles, fresh veggies, & a bold sauce with just the right heat.
On top of the amazing food, the service was truly 10/10. The staff were friendly, attentive, & made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
If you're craving authentic Thai food that's bursting with flavor & served with heart, this is the place. I'm already planning my next visit!
We traveled from Philadelphia in the US & this little restaurant's food blew our mind compared to most of the Thai restaurants back in Philly. Very cozy atmosphere. HIGHLY recommend to try the papaya salad!! (we ordered mild spicy) & mango sticky rice.
Nth time be here. Became a fanatic for spicy papaya salad 🥗 !
The place is small & chic.
Red curry is very delicious.
Staff are very energetic & welcoming
2nd update: papaya salad gave me a surprise. I didn't know there's green papaya which is much more palatable to me
3rd: spicy pork, try & ask for extra spicy 🌶?
Great authentic thai food, operated by thai staff so it's legit. Different spice levels with thai peppers to make it spicy. Very good
It's a small dine in place with open kitchen.
The food was not too good & not too bad as per my experience. I ordered for spicy food but it was still bland for me!! Though the quantity is good enough. Would like to try khao Soi on my next visit🤞🏻
seriously the best calamari ive had in montreal! also the thai wings were perfectly crisp & spicy. the pad thai was also amazing. thai tea was some of the best. overall authentic thai cuisine experience! service was very friendly & acommodating. will definitely be back!
Mia Cuisine Thai is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to experience authentic Thai flavors with a modern twist. From the freshly made spring rolls to the succulent wings & flavorful stir-fry, each dish was crafted with precision & care. Add in a refreshing Thai iced tea, & you've got a meal that feels both satisfying & exciting. Whether you're a die-hard fan of Thai cuisine or just looking to try something new, Mia Cuisine Thai is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back for more! Video Review will be posted on Tik Tok & Instagram soon @Foxyappetite In Depth Review: Mia Cuisine Thai is one of those hidden gems in Montreal that promises a delightful fusion of authentic Thai flavors with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I could tell that this spot was about more than just serving food; it was about creating a relaxing experience that felt both traditional & fresh. I had the chance to indulge in a few standout dishes, & I left feeling thoroughly impressed. Vegetarian Spring Rolls (Made from Scratch In-House) These spring rolls were the highlight of my meal. The freshness of the ingredients was undeniable, & it's clear they're made with care. The wrapper was perfectly crispy, not overly greasy, & had a beautiful golden hue. The filling was a flavorful medley of finely chopped vegetables that were still vibrant & crunchy, offering a satisfying contrast to the crunchy exterior. Paired with the dipping sauce, these spring rolls became a true standout in my meal. They're not just an appetizer; they're a must-try. I can easily see why these are a fan favorite. Thai Hot Wings These wings were soo delicious, as the menu promised. Served piping hot & juicy, they had just the right balance of heat & flavor. The crispy skin was perfectly seasoned, giving the wings a satisfying crunch without being overly oily. The meat was tender & juicy inside, & the spicy sauce was the perfect level of heat-enough to get your taste buds tingling without being overwhelming. They were a true comfort food indulgence, & the portion size was generous too. If you're a fan of wings, these should not be missed. Crispy Pork Thai Basil Stir-Fry The crispy pork Thai basil stir-fry was another highlight, offering a savory, aromatic experience. The pork was cooked to perfection-crispy on the outside but still tender & juicy on the inside. The basil added a fragrant, herbaceous kick to the dish, complemented by the perfectly balanced mix of spices. The stir-fry had just the right amount of heat & sweetness, with a touch of savory umami that tied everything together. The portion was substantial & well-rounded, making for a satisfying main course. I loved how the dish showcased the bold flavors of Thai cuisine without being overwhelming. Thai Iced Tea To wash it all down, I opted for the Thai iced tea, which was wonderfully refreshing. The tea had the perfect balance of sweetness & creaminess, with a strong, robust flavor that wasn't too sugary. Served over ice with a generous splash of milk, it was the ideal accompaniment to the spicier dishes, helping to cool the palate & add a touch of indulgence to the meal. Ambiance & Service The vibe at Mia Cuisine Thai is casual yet inviting, with warm lighting & a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was friendly & attentive, taking the time to answer questions about the menu & make sure everything was to my liking. The pace of the meal was well-timed, & it felt like they truly cared about each guest's experience. I also enjoyed the background music, which featured laid-back covers & popular pop songs, adding a relaxed vibe to the atmosphere.
Mia ou Mai ? Au deuxième étage. Petit restaurant.
Very very Thai Authentic. spicy & tasty as you were in Thailand. แซ่บ สะใจ กินแล้วหายคิดถึงบ้าน น้ำปลาร้าคือนัวและถูกต้องมากๆๆ
This is a review of an ordered food item - so it's invalid for service & atmosphere. Ordered pad Thai as it is the basic Thai food we all know & love. I wanted to see if the basic is good (like ordering cheeseburger & fries for a diner, Margherita for a pizza place etc), as if the basic is good, the rest of the menu is often great. The pad Thai expectations for me are the smokiness of the wok, sweet, sour, spicy & tangy. The pad Thai I got was sweet, slightly overcooked & had no other flavours. I took medium spicy & personally did not find the flavour. Also a distinct lack of fishiness, which was disappointing. I won't be ordering here again.
Crispy pork with basil sauce is yummy ! The pork itself is tender & crispy. The sauce itself is moderately spicy but still okay.
Food was good but not very spicy for the extremely spicy drunken noodles.
Ordered this on Uber eats & was blown away by the flavors they are packing! The Thai spicy wings were particularly delicious. The dipping sauce for the calamari also had a complexity of flavor that balanced spice sweet & sour tangyness. So tasty, can't wait to try Mia again.
Great food, Great Service. If you wanna try real taste of Thai food, you should come here. First of all, just ask the waitress about real taste of dish then you can decide your taste like more spicy less salty or less sweet etc. About the service, the Asain people are good in service. I went there many time such a nice place to find Thai people, Thai dishes & they all take care of you like one of their family!! For about ambiance, I dont like it to much, small resto, make you feel cozy but when it was full, its make you feel uncormfotable in the same time, so just for sure before you go, call them first! & the lighting is not good enough to take a good photo. However, I still reccommended this resto. I'm Thai for sure!!!
Very authentic taste & exotic ambiance. Had the spicy wings, red curry, Tom yum soup & mango sticky rice. I’d recommend them all since they all tasted great.
Downside:
- beef quality should be better / more tender with that price range. Same as the steamed rice (we all except having authentic Thai rices with curries, aren’t we!)
- no AC inside, might be too hot for ppl coming on summer days.
