WOW i can't believe this was vegan food because it was all so yummy & if it's vegan it must be healthy so hooray !!! also the tables have drawers where people can leave notes & its so fun to just read a bunch of them
i got the reuben sandwich - which wasnt really like an imitation of your typical pastrami deli reuben sandwich, but it was sooo good. the sandwich was LOADED with this'meat' slathered with a sweet sauce mingling with the most perfect'cheese' sauce, & it was just such a messy, sloppy, beautiful jumble of flavours. to balance it out, there were sour pickles & crunchy onions too. the bread was like ciabatta or baguette & it was amazing as well, super cris but also sofy & not too chewy.
the brownie dessert was also a fantastic treat - it was served hot & alongside cold, creamy ice cream with the most FANTASTIC coconut flavour, drizzled with sweet chocolate & peanut syrup, as well as some crunchy peanut crisps on top. the brownie texture was unique, & it was bouncy/floury in a way that reminded me of mochi?? super good & delicious !!!
Cute place, love the little drawer notes.
Mushroom toast was good, just kinda sour. My friend enjoyed her pear French toast. My frangelico sour was heavy on the matcha powder to the point where I think I got the wrong cocktail. The matcha, nutty, & sour flavour did not blend as well as you would hope. My friend asked for no chocolate syrup & even though it was marked on the bill, it was still on it. The drinks came after I was done my food. The place was busy at the start but half clear by mid meal, but the service frequency didn't improve.
Amazing vegan dinner! 10/10 would recommend for an all vegan & homemade restaurant. Amazing food, service & atmosphere. The table drawers had cute notes.
Had the mushroom poutine, braised tofu & curry for dinner & the lemon pie as takeout dessert. 100% recommend the braised tofu with the green sauce
Food was amazing, staff was very accommodating & friendly, although service was a little slow, BUT the best thing about the place kept us very occupied while we waited. The tables have drawers full of notes from past customers, & once you discover them, it consumes your entire time reading each one. 😆 They even advocate leaving some of your own, our waitress brought us pens & paper at the end of our meal! If you're in Montreal, I absolutely recommend stopping here for a bite. 😁
Absolutely incredible meal, safe, so delicious. We just happened to open the drawers, absolutely incredible
It is a very nice place, the food is fantastic & the attention is great. There are little notes in the drawers that are fun to read, lovely detail. I already had the Braised Tofu & the Hemp Burger 😋. Both delicious! I recommend 👌
Best vegan food in the ghetto by a long shot, great vibes awesome staff & a fun space to hangout! This place is the best! Check the drawers of your table for a special surprise too!
EVERY ORDER (chilli, curry, braised tofu, cheesesteak, hemp burger,…) was a hit! The NACHOS are a must!!🔥We also had so much fun reading the letters people left in the drawers. & a HUGE shout out to Agathe for managing orders from our big group while being super warm, attentive, & empathetic:)
What a great vegan restaurant! We dined here on our first night in Montreal. The staff was very friendly & all of the food was delicious. The atmosphere was quaint & enhanced by all of the'secret messages' in the drawers of all the tables (hand written notes from patrons of the past). I truly loved the nachos & chili. My wife had a great asparagus special & we shared a tasty eggplant appetizer. Nice way to start our weekend in Montreal. Thank you!
We loved this place. Fresh, delicious food & lovely staff & atmosphere. Nachos were so good & so was the lemon tart. Be sure to check inside the drawers of your table!
I had a great experience here! Right when you walk in, you're met with such a welcoming, cozy atmosphere. Each table has little drawers in them that have notes written from past customers which adds such a wholesome touch - it was so lovely to read them! On top of that, our waitress was fantastic! While plant based food sometimes has the reputation of not being the most palatable, the food here completely proves that sentiment wrong. My friend & I had the curry, cheesesteak, soup of the day, & the lemon & chocolate caramel tarts & all were absolutely delicious. We left completely stuffed. Highly recommend coming here!
This has been my favorite place to eat in Montreal so far. Really cute little place with little wooden top tables with drawers that have little notes in them various people have written over the years. The menu is eclectic but vegetarian/vegan. Has a number of hemp dishes which were unique. I had a very flavorful grilled tofu, veggies & rice dish with a really unique maple sauce. My wife had the hemp burger. Both were delicious. The carrot cake was very good. I love a good spice cake & this fit the bill. It was light on the icing which I actually appreciate but some might not. Took one point of ambiance because the acoustics of the room were very loud & seemed to amplify voices making it very hard to hear with all the folks talking at once. Will definitely visit here next time I'm in Montreal.
The food here was good & decent amount of options. The atmosphere was quite nice with tables with drawer full of handwritten notes. Great place to sit down with friends & get plant based food.
Visiting from out of town & found this place after walking around McGill & could not be happier with the find! Absolutely loved everything about Lola Rosa & all the small touches that made the space even more special (the notes in the drawers were so cute). We had a primarily vegetarian group & everyone was so excited about all the options & the service was phenomenal. The beet tartare was a crowd pleaser & the lasagna was the perfect end to our night. Could not recommend them enough!
I have been going to Lola Rosa for many many years off & on. I just returned to see the restaurants painted "waiting room" colour with absolutely no character or homey energy in the space. The only charm left were the tables with the drawers holding the lovely notes. As soon as I saw the menu I knew I should have left. It was not the same eclectic diverse culinary experience. The very same menu as the Lola on William ,feels like an airplane menu. I lived in the building on William & the Lola there was horrible & expensive. I ordered the "philly cheese steak" & when the waitress put it in front of me it was absolutely terrible to look at food just slapped on a plate. I did not order the salad that comes with this item because as I looked at the other tables the salad looked like someone put their hand in a mixed salad bag from the grocery store & put dressing on it. The sandwich had three red peppers strips the size of a golf pencil , onions & the main "meat". Half was overcooked & half was undercooked. I ordered a skimpy non alcoholic raspberry lemonade. $30 with tip. Bread, satay? & a drink. I died a little inside. This was my most favourite place. The food was always memorable. They also didn't have many items on the menu & ran out of feta. The server was nice. I do not recommend to visit Lola Milton or place Des arts if you are visiting & googled "vegan restaurants". Sorry. :(
i didn't know vegetarian food could be good until i tried lola rosa. i came here often as a mcgill student when i lived in the neighborhood & my favourites were the spinach lasagna & the nachos. the little drawers at each table made each visit memorable. my friends & i loved to read the notes & add our own to the collection.
LOVE the Lola Rosa'family'! It's my go-to when I'm in Montreal. Milton is charming, intimate, relaxed & the staff are welcoming. The menu is simple & everything is delish. The sangria is yum. Be sure to check out the drawers at each table which contain notes/messages from previous diners. Bon appetit!
The food was tasty & our server was friendly & helpful. Nice ambience & we loved the drawers in all the tables full of notes from patrons
Enjoyed this place very much. In town for the Grande Prix & needed a vegetarian place to each with my 2 kids. While space is small it is a quaint place to eat.. We each got something different, & enjoyed all our choices. I got the Vegetable curry. I am not a curry fan, but this was really good! We got the eggplant appetizer, another good choice. We finished our meal, & my daughter found drawers in the tables. Inside the drawers were past customers jotting down whatever was on their minds at the time. Some letters were many years old...found a few love connections written down...wonderful, personal touch to this wonderful vegetarian restaurant. The staff was great as well. Would definitely go there again.
I've been to Lola Rosa a bunch of times & every time I go I always order the hemp burger ... it's absolutely delicious! The service is a little slow sometimes, especially at peak hours, but with drawers packed with notes from patrons-past you don't really notice the time.
