If you're looking for a restaurant which can ruin your mother's 89th birthday, lose your order, refuse to bring bread out to the table, serve everyone else in the restaurant - twice, not bring out your food after you've ordered it for a second time, & then not only refuse to apologize but demand that you treat them with respect - you're in luck - this is the place for you. Everyone from the hapless servers to the co-manager who mansplained why french toast wasn't marked as vegetarian because of the possibility of cross-contamination (WTF) to the other co-manager who took our order again (because, by this point the dishes we had ordered 60 minutes earlier were no longer available) while promising it would be out immediately & saying there wouldn't be time for bread to be brought out of the table (our meals never did arrive) share the responsibility for what was most definitely, without a doubt, the worst restaurant experience of my life. It felt like we were on the set of a movie. It took us a while to clue in that we weren't going to be served but eventually we worked out that if they could serve two sittings of everyone else in the restaurant it wasn't likely we were ever going to have brunch. We had arrived on time for our 12.30 reservations & it was 2.50 by the time we walked out - with my mother feeling more than a bit weak for lack of food at that point. As we left, the co-managers berated our family & demanded to know "Who's in charge here?" which is a pretty odd question when you're talking to four of your clients (I was helping my mom with her walker to exit the restaurant). We ended up walking down the street where we munched on croissants & focacia in front of a bakery/café & celebrated my mother's birthday on a park bench. It was a memorable birthday - for a whole lot of the wrong reasons - thanks to the poor service, semi-professional indifference & casual rudeness of the staff at Les Enfants Terrible (L'Île-des-Soeurs).
