Must do Montreal activity I've been coming here for twenty years & it's always the same excellent service delicious food & excellent service thank youN
On one of the warmer evenings in Montreal, their AC is not keeping up. I was sweating a lot by the end of the meal. Our waitress was super nice, helpful & knowledgeable about the menu & wines. I was impressed. My special Flank Steak with wild mushrooms, zucchini & a shrimp sauce was a total delight. Flavors just burst in my mouth, albeit a tad over salted. One of my companions also commented on the over salting of his cod.
The French Toast dessert was huge. Alas, way over sweet & nothing to write home about. Didn't say it was super sweet?
I happened to be in the area & wanted French food for lunch. I didn't expect it to have a Michelin recommendation! I also saw the poster written by the friends of the architect, Luc Laporte. They had impressive words to say about him.
Reservations: probably recommended to make reservations ahead of time, but I was able to walk in on a weekday around noon without one. The place looked like it was getting full by 13:00.
Service: our server was great with providing recommendations & noting what are popular dishes. He explained that the beef cheeks is a winter dish. Unfortunately we didn't get to try it.
Food:
Complimentary bread & butter
CLASSIC SALMON TARTARE (appetizer, CAD$25.50)- delicious, refreshing, cold
ICELANDIC WILD COD (main dish, CAD$53.50)- fish was seared perfectly, flavorful potato puree, warm cherry tomatoes
GRILLED VEAL CHOP (main dish, CAD$68.50)- veal was cooked medium rare, thick slices of heirloom tomato, interesting nutty sauce
I thoroughly enjoyed each dish. I didn't expect much, so I was pleasantly surprised. This might have been the best restaurant in my short Montreal visit.

Enjoyed dinner here a couple of weeks ago while visiting Montréal. If you want to experience a genuine & authentic local neighbourhood restaurant this is the place. Great staff who look like they're enjoying themselves & an interesting mix of customers for people watching.
Food was delicious, good sized portions & great value. Also a beautiful space- the bar & cabinetry behind it are just stunning to look at & the outdoor patio very pretty in the middle of summer. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Montréal.
The interior of the restaurant feels very warm & stylish - lot's of natural wood, nice tile floors & a very cozy patio. It's classy & elegant, but also grounded & unpretentious.
The hugo sprits lacked St-Germain, virgin caesar was very refreshing & flavorful.
The food was great, i really recommend the hanger steak, mushroom ravioli had a crazy good sauce & the salmon in a pot was very delicious. The beef tar tare lacked spices for me, I wish it had more capers/pickles, however it's more of a taste preference. The quality of the meat was great!
The service felt a bit slow, that's my only complaint. Other than that, everything was good.
I would take my parents here next time I'm in Montreal.
Wonderful service & a delicious meal. One of the best beef tartare dishes we've ever experienced. Delicious steak & frites. The maple French toast for dessert was unreal!
My wife & I are visiting Montreal, & so glad we dined at Lemeac. The food was wonderful, & at a good price. They also provided the best service I've ever had, it felt both generous & warm. Thank you, Lemeac, for making our evening so lovely!
The food is always on point, the service is always great
we always have an amazing time coming here & leave extremly satisfied with everything! for what it's worth, the prices are very reasonable in my opinion! highly recommend this place!!
