Leméac Café Bistro is widely regarded as a staple of the Montreal dining scene, frequently praised for its consistent quality, elegant atmosphere, and classic French brasserie fare. Many diners highlight standout dishes such as the duck confit, beef tartare, escargots in basil sauce, and the signature pain perdu, often describing the cuisine as expertly executed and delicious. While the restaurant is celebrated for its professional service and warm, lively environment, some guests note that it can become quite noisy and that the experience can occasionally feel hurried or inconsistent regarding service quality depending on the visit. Despite varied opinions on pricing and volume levels, it remains a popular destination for both milestone celebrations and casual meals, with many loyal patrons considering it a reliable and essential part of the local culinary landscape.
We ADORED spending our anniversary at Leméac! The food was phenomenal, I'm a picky eater & everything was perfect. The service was unparalleled, absolutely wonderful. We will be returning!
One of the first brunch spots I've visited that claims to be of higher quality. Based on the menu & presentation, it certainly looks like a premium experience. Unfortunately, I don't think that translates to the flavor. My dish had a very confusing taste - I love complexity, but this was just overwhelming, too many competing flavors.
The dessert was better than the main course, but even though it was technically well executed, it still wasn't particularly delicious. Considering the higher price & smaller portions compared to other'lesser' spots, I'd honestly prefer going to the more modest places.
This is where justin trudeau & katy perry went on a date. I loved the atmosphere & the food.
The good point is they have an after 10p.m menu which is nice for hanging out with friends.

We enjoyed this restaurant. I find the menu well designed & executed. There is a nice atmosphere with lots of windows. The server was very nice however there's some room for improvement, there was a lot of waiting around for things. Either way when I went up to pay the bill the manager offered to comp the drinks without me asking for anything. This was appreciated. I would go back to try their evening menu.
MUSY TRY PLATES: escargots - super different & good, foie gras - sooooo velvety rich & melts in your mouth, pain perdu - very sugary but honestly amazing
The other plates were also great tasting, but my hangar steak just had too small of a portion of steak & too big of a portion of fries
Very good French restaurant with crab cake with seaweed vegetables & tomatoes, the fish with vegetables, cheese with seaweed , calamari , pig blood with mashed potatoes & cooked potatoes!!!!!! We had two main courses lamb chops with mashed potatoes & green beans & duck sauce pasta with seaweed & fresh cheese !!!!!!!!!
I honestly don't know how they have a Michelin. This restaurant was absolutely horrible. They failed to follow through on my birthday & did not take responsibility. We waited to be seated despite making a reservation & the bread was super cold good terrible don't eat here eve
Wonderful , attentive service & delicious food. Vesper martini, squash soup, steak frites & a baba au rhum for dessert. Everything was delicious. My wife & friends had mussels with fries & they loved their food. Very knowledgeable & fully bilingual staff. The restaurant was busy but we had great service. Highly recommend. Prices reasonable for the quality.
