Lecavalier Petrone is celebrated for exceptional chocolates and pastries with flavors that feel artisanal and memorable. Reviews note attentive service and thoughtful gestures, including a prompt refund for a minor order issue and a kind follow up on a return visit, and many guests say they plan to return and recommend the place. The assortment, from classic favorites like Paris Brest to gift-worthy chocolate selections, is praised for originality and beauty, and the shop is lauded as a neighborhood gem that also supports community initiatives. Some comments mention that online ordering and pickup could be smoother, occasional dessert balance issues, and a preference for smaller cake portions, but overall quality remains outstanding.
I had a small issue with my order (8 pieces of chocolate & a small dark chocolate mousse cake), but the way it was handled was amazing. They refunded me right away & were very kind & professional.
When I came back, they even offered me a chocolate cookie, honestly one of the best I've had in Montreal. The quality here is truly impressive.
A big thank you to Loïse at Lecavalier Petrone for the excellent service. You can tell they really care about their customers.
I will definitely be coming back & recommending this place!

Perhaps those who frequent it have nothing better to compare it to, because the dismissive, fake treatment is hard to tolerate - not to mention the plasticky, uninspired cakes - just like the owner & the staff.
Dry cakes, products are tasteless, too sugary & oily. Unprofessional, passive agressive service. Bad attitude if you don't tip - an entirely unpleasant experience.
The cakes are frozen & taste dry, old, & basic - more Costco than pâtisserie, despite the premium prices. The creams are heavy, oily, & dominated by sugar & fat, with no taste, finesse or real technique.
The simplest gestures are missing: you can buy several cakes & they hand you a stack of boxes with no bag, no care, no courtesy.
The attitude matches the quality - consistently rude, slow, dismissive, & strangely proud of it. They sell sugar & butter, but the people behind the counter, including the owner are anything but sweet.
The truth is simple: Montreal has very few alternatives right now, & they survive on that lack of choice, not on merit.'
For the last 3 years, I've ordered my birthday cakes from this shop & have been so happy with the gorgeous & delicious cakes (& so have my guests). This year was no exception -- I ordered the newer chocolate hazelnut cake to be picked up on the weekend & for whatever reason, I completely forgot to go to the shop & pick it up 💀 I received a call from someone at the shop who tried to work with me to pick it up in the final minutes it was closing, (where the employee made the extra effort to stay longer than they should have 🥺) but due to a bad match with an Uber courier, it wasn't able to be picked up in time. They put it in the fridge for me to try & grab it on Wednesday when they reopened, & I accepted this as it was completely my fault for not picking it up when I said I would. I figured I could pick up a sad cake from the grocery store instead.
I emailed the shop to apologize for the back & forth (I really summarized the efforts above but it was a very confusing ordeal with Uber) & to thank the employee for their efforts, & was surprised to get a call from the owner, Chloe, who saw my email & graciously offered to meet me at the shop later that day as she had to be there anyway to pick something up. I was so grateful that she reached out to me! I ended up being able to bring my usual delicious cake to my birthday party & enjoy it with my friends. 🥳
I was always happy to support this very talented local shop (I buy the beautiful advent calendars from them for the holidays as gifts!) but am even more of a fan now. Thank you to Chloe & your team for helping me sort out the situation!

I liked the chocolate, pretty good quality in general & they look nice. I was a bit disappointed that the cakes only come in large sizes & no individual portions. Also, the taste of the cake was not to my liking.
The most beautiful & delicious cakes, chocolates, ice cream bars, Yule logs, wedding cakes, cookies, donuts... I can go on but everything they create is amazing & their pastries have become a staple for all my family's birthdays & holidays. Also do yourself a big favour & try their Paris-Brest. 11/10 every time. Also the staff & co-owners are super professional, incredibly sweet, & ultra impressive. Thanks for making PSC a better place!

Lecavalier Petrone is hands down one of my favorite cake shop in Montreal, & it's my go-to for every special occasion. Whether it's a birthday or simply a treat-yourself moment, their cakes never disappoint. Each one feels like a masterpiece-somehow, every time I think I've tasted the best they have to offer, the next cake raises the bar even higher. From the perfectly moist layers to the rich, decadent flavors that dance on your palate, every bite feels like a little celebration.
I absolutely love treating myself or loved one to their gorgeous & delicious chocolate from time to time. They are pieces of art that also taste amazing. My favourites are passionfruit, salted caramel & camerise. Had the opportunity to get one of their cakes (black forest) & was just as impressed. I love everything they make. Wish I lived closer.

My husband & I were in Montreal for his birthday weekend & I took a chance & ordered a strawberry cake from here - & it was amazing. My mother-in-law who used to be a professional baker went on & on about how good it was. I was so happy to find this sweet little bakery. Merci!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I love ordering from here all the time. The cakes are hands down the best in Montreal. I truly feel lucky & proud to have Le Cavalier Pétrone in my city. Finally, a place that offers cakes that are well balanced, not overly sweet, use local ingredients when possible, & provide wonderful customer service. Thank you to the whole team!
