Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Le Surcouf consistently earns praise for excellent French cuisine, impeccable service, and a warm, elegant atmosphere in a charming old house with multiple intimate rooms. The wine list is excellent and dietary needs are well accommodated with gluten free options, making it a reliable choice for special occasions and relaxed dinners alike. While some guests note that prices can be on the higher side and that service can be slower on busy nights, the overall experience remains memorable and consistently high quality.
The kitchen produces very good classic French style food, with some local inspiration, at a fair price. The wine list is solid, with interesting choices at various price levels, with many private imports - not the "usual suspects". The service is attentive & professional. I have eaten at Le Surcouf many times over the past 20 years, & have never been disappointed.
Tout est parfait, ce restaurant sait satisfaire les plus exigeants dans une ambiance décontractée & chaleureuse. C'est notre place préférée pour nos soupers en amoureux.

Superb dinner. Terrific service. Our 3rd or 4th time visiting Le Surcouf & I now realize it's always for Valentine's Day. Upon arriving our concern was the special Valentine's Day menu was limited to the point where my wife & I each only had one choice & neither of us were immediately thrilled with our only options. Both plates, however, were excellent so in the end, it worked out. Tip: the beef tartare is out of this world & I do believe is part of the regular menu as well.
Notre expérience au Surcouf à été bien, le service à été excellent. Je dois avouer avoir été extrêmement déçu de l'entre de foie gras car celui-ci n'a pas été dé-veiné avant d'être servi & à mon avis cela est inacceptables. J'ai adressé la situation & rien ne m'a été offert. J'aurais au moins apprécié des excuses. Je n'ai aucun problème de dépenser de bonne sommes pour bien manger mais cette situation m'a laisser un goût amer. Le restaurant est sensé servir des plats de qualité & ce manque nous laisse croire le contraires. Je suis loins d'être une personne qui a tendance à se plaindre mais cela m'a extrêmement déçu & pour cette raison je ne suis pas certaine de revenir ou de recommander ce restaurant.
