Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Le Surcouf is widely regarded as a premier dining destination, celebrated for its exquisite French cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. Guests frequently praise the restaurant for its consistent quality, attentive service, and beautiful presentation of traditional dishes. Set in a charming, old-world house, it offers an elegant environment suitable for special celebrations, romantic dinners, or quiet gatherings. While experiences are overwhelmingly positive, with many patrons returning over the course of several years, the restaurant is recognized for its commitment to maintaining authentic culinary traditions and providing a memorable, well-managed experience for all its visitors.
The atmosphere is warm & cozy. The building is an old house converted to a high end restaurant. Several dining rooms add to the intimate dining experience. Needless to say, the staff are incredibly attentive & very knowledgeable. Allergies are not a problem here, the staff bends over backwards to accommodate them. The food is perfection.
Nestled in the picturesque borough of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on the West Island of Montreal, Le Surcouf is a gem that consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience. This French restaurant has been our go-to place for celebrating our anniversary for three years running, & it never fails to impress. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the Owner & Maître d'Hôtel, Dominique. Her charming & attentive nature added a personal touch to our evening, making us feel like cherished guests in her home. The service at Le Surcouf is impeccably timed, ensuring that each course is presented at the perfect moment, allowing us to savor every bite without feeling rushed. To start, my wife chose the "Crazy Salad," a delightful mix of fresh greens, vibrant vegetables, & a light, tangy dressing that awakened her palate. For her main course, she opted for the "Scallops with Leek Gratiné with Parmesan." The scallops were cooked to perfection, tender & flavorful, while the leek gratiné added a creamy, savory richness that complemented the dish beautifully. I began my meal with "Le Foie Gras," a luxurious appetizer that was decadently smooth & rich, paired with a delicate, slightly sweet accompaniment that balanced the flavors exquisitely. For my main course, I chose the "Veal Chop with Sautéed Mushrooms in a Cream Sauce." The veal chop was succulent & tender, with the sautéed mushrooms & cream sauce adding a depth of flavor that elevated the dish to a gastronomic delight. Every aspect of our meal at Le Surcouf was a testament to the restaurant's dedication to culinary excellence. The ambiance, enhanced by Dominique's engaging conversations, creates a welcoming & intimate atmosphere that makes each visit special. Le Surcouf is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary haven where exceptional food, outstanding service, & a warm, inviting atmosphere come together to create unforgettable dining experiences. It's no wonder we've made it our anniversary tradition, & we look forward to many more delightful evenings at this exquisite French restaurant.

Le Surcouf is the essence of a fine dining restaurant, without the expectation of having to wear a suit or a dress to get in. It has been one of my favourite places to go for celebrations or quiet candle-lit dinners for over 20 years.
Service was good if we ignore the following : our waiter loudly complained about a competitor restaurant's food, most likely to take said competitor's clients. Very unpleasant to hear, unethical, dishonorable & unprofessional on his part. However the food & ambiance were great, although it can get abit loud when it's busy & is quite expensive.
