Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Le Surcouf consistently earns praise for excellent French cuisine, impeccable service, and a warm, elegant atmosphere in a charming old house with multiple intimate rooms. The wine list is excellent and dietary needs are well accommodated with gluten free options, making it a reliable choice for special occasions and relaxed dinners alike. While some guests note that prices can be on the higher side and that service can be slower on busy nights, the overall experience remains memorable and consistently high quality.
My husband & I brought our friends from Halifax for dinner & they as well as us, loved it!
We have been there several times & have never been disappointed with the food & service.
We had a great evening & will definitely go back again.

All is there! We love to try French cuisine restaurants & my first choice is always at Le Surcouf. Quality price is hard to beat. Wine list is from a private reserve & prices are very reasonable. They have gluten free bread, flour etc no need to worry if you are celiac of simply intolerant to weat. reservations were easy would recommend to make them a few days before as the restaurant is always packed.
C'est la 2e fois que je vais à ce restaurant & mes papilles ont été agréablement sollicitées. Le service est plus que parfait. C'est certain que je vais y retourner pour mon anniversaire 😁

Le service, l'ambiance & la nourriture furent extraordinaires! L'expérience & le savoir faire des propriétaires & de leurs employés est indéniable. Très bon rapport qualité-prix.
L'accueil est chaleureux & notre serveur a été charmant. J'ai été déçue de l'entrée de gravlax ( peu généreuse & la vinaigrette manquait de saveur). Le repas de lapin manquait de sauce, de légumes, enfin....encore une fois pas assez copieux. Le dessert était
simple & bon. Le temps d'attente entre les mets est trop long & même si notre serveur nous avait averties d'un manque criant de personnel ça demande une patience d'ange.
Pricey & worth it. This was a special occasion evening out. Great food & excellent service. Supper consisted of goat cheese encrusted in walnuts for an appetizer, veal scallopini as the main course, & chocolate mousse for dessert. We had a bottle of Chablis to go with it. The food was delicious. The serving of grapefruit ice in between the appetizer & the main course (to cleanse the palette) was a nice touch. Service throughout was attentive, yet unobtrusive. We will definitely return to celebrate special occasions.
Dominique & her team always make an evening at Surcouf a very special outing. They always go over & above to make for a great experience. The meal & presentations are outstanding & the private importation wine selections are delicious!
Cuisine classique, bien rendue sans trop de formalité. Ça serait une bonne chose, quand même, d'obiger les hommes d'avoir au moins un collier pour sa chemise au lieu d'un "T-shirt". Ça fait plus chic pour l'environnement de la salle.
