Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Le Surcouf consistently earns praise for excellent French cuisine, impeccable service, and a warm, elegant atmosphere in a charming old house with multiple intimate rooms. The wine list is excellent and dietary needs are well accommodated with gluten free options, making it a reliable choice for special occasions and relaxed dinners alike. While some guests note that prices can be on the higher side and that service can be slower on busy nights, the overall experience remains memorable and consistently high quality.
Belle découverte en cours de chemin! Après quelques semaines passées aux USA qu'il fait bon de se retrouver dans un restaurant où le service & la qualité de la table sont au rendez-vous! Excellent rapport qualité-prix. On le recommande vivement.

I would have given a 4 star rating for ambiance, but I feel that diners at an evening meal in an excellent restaurant should also dress the part & not show up in shorts T-shirts & sock-less deck shoes, which was the case for some in our latest visit. Suitable attire for dining is part of the ambiance.
From the beginning to end, everything was utterly professional & delicious. The starter, cold celery apple soup, had crisp clear flavors without one ingredient outshining the other. The crepes suzettes with slivered candied orange peels were heavenly. & our meat dishes were cooked to spec. Add the impeccable service & a friendly chat with the owner & you have a memorable evening.
One of the best option for fine dining in the West Island. Living room atmosphere with different styles of art on the walls that you can buy. Located 5 minutes away from the Becker dam, a waterway & kay for boats where restaurants are lining the waterfront. A must see & experience if you like the combination of fine dining, great atmosphere & walking the wooden boards along the canal waterfront with its restaurants.
