Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Reviews consistently celebrate Le Surcouf for superb traditional French cuisine, artful presentation, and a warm, intimate atmosphere inside an old house with a fireplace that makes dining feel special. Service is described as professional, attentive, and friendly, with knowledgeable staff guiding wine choices and accommodating dietary needs including gluten free options. Many describe it as a West Island gem and a prime spot for anniversaries, family gatherings, and memorable evenings, offering both a refined carte and a reasonably priced Bistro menu. Decor and ambiance receive frequent praise, with quiet, cozy dining rooms, local art, and a welcoming feel that invites lingering. While a few reviews note busier nights can bring noise or slower pacing, the overall consensus is that Le Surcouf delivers consistently high quality, generous portions, and thoughtful touches that keep guests returning. Overall, guests emphasize that the combination of cuisine, service, and setting makes Le Surcouf one of the standout French dining experiences in the area.
We celebrated my spouses birthday & all went off without any issues great food, excellent service & nice atmosphere i would highly recommend this restaurant & gluten free option is available for certain dishes
Cet endroit est de loin le meilleur resto français dans le west island & au delà
Service impeccable
Feutrée cuisine excellente amuse bouches & granité on y retournes bientôt
& vraiment cote prix très très raisonnable
Pleasantly surprised by the choices in the menu, quality of food & very French dishes. Only reason not giving full 5 stars, welcome on arrival could be improved & the tuna tataki seemed not at its best but the rognon was quite good
Very warm ambiance & professional service. By far one of the best restaurants in Montreal, featuring French cuisine using logically sourced produce. Reminds me of the restaurant at hotel Le Maréchal in Colmar, France.

The food is excellent & the setting is very charming. However, the service ...polite but were left waiting a lot. Unless you are a regular, you'll be left to wait & listen to the waiter yapping with the regulars to no end.
