We originally stopped by for takeout poutine, & were immediately welcomed by the incredibly friendly host, Tommy. His positive energy & warmth made such an impression on us that we decided to return the next night for dinner-& we're so glad we did!
I had the tuna tartare appetizer, which was absolutely delicious, while my friends had the hamburger steak & the Beyond Burger. Everyone loved their meals, but what truly stood out was the vibe-fun, welcoming, & full of heart. The entire team of servers & staff created such a great atmosphere that made the experience memorable.
Bonus: it's the only place in the village where we found a great espresso martini!
My partner & I stopped by here before heading out for the night, & we had such a great experience. The staff were amazing, the drinks were excellent, & the vibe was super chill & welcoming. We'll definitely be back & highly recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal. I asked our server for suggestions on where to go next, & they kindly recommended a few spots it really made the night even better.

Came to Montreal for the weekend with my fiance & wanted to spend an evening in Gay Village. The Saloon did not disappoint with their tartare & service! Greeted in & out of a place with elevated vibes. Next time were in Montreal we're definitely going to come back!
The atmosphere is great the experience is always enjoyable the food is not bad at all the music is GREAT the only place in the Village with a lovely & welcoming vibe (the whole year)
Stunning & unique location in the heart of downtown Montreal. Great queer venture to visit after pride events. The staff were attentive, language-flexible, & provided great recommendations. I'd return just to sit, have a drink, & enjoy the vibe.

We were very excited about this place, since we have had wonderful food on this trip.
We ordered an onion soup that was bland & tiny. The nachos were very good, delicious sauces & very good tortillas, but we got the extra chicken & it had literally three small pieces of chicken. Yes, literally, three small bites. Awful.
My cocktail was weak.
The vibe of the place is great, & their front terrace was very nice. The servers were very friendly & helpful, even if the food was very slow to arrive. Edit: our last course arrived 27 minutes after we finished the appetizers, which also were slow. We complained about their chicken & to their credit, they removed the extra chicken from the nachos on the check.
The salmon was bland, very little seasoning, the potatoes were also bland & they were stingy (3 small potatoes, really) with them. The veggies that came with the salmon were very good, tho.
It's really sad that a place with such a great potential ended up being such a disappointment. :(
Good vibes & music, other parties aren't too respectful of others though. Our servers were the best they get 5/5 stars. Good approach, so nice & polite it was very busy but they always checked on us.
I never skip going for a dinner at Saloon when I'm in Montreal. It's always the best way to start a night out, food is always great, music is on point & the vibe is always upbeat & fun! I never miss out on the beef tartare & my favourite drink, South Beach! The staff is fun & friendly, & they always remember me! Can't wait to hit the terrace this summer!
