Excellent choice for creative French bistro inspired food, for those looking to bring their own nice wine to a place a bit more upscale than most of the local BYOB offerings. Very intimate, but not too crowded or noisy. Well organized, good service. Excellent value for money, which is harder to find these days.
Amazing food, very tender meat & fish. to recommend For traditional French cuisine. it is one of our top 5 restaurants in Montreal
Starting with the good, food is excellent, salmon tartare, carrot soup, duck, foie gras, Île flottant, chocolaté mousse. Service was excellent. However, even though we were confirmed by phone to have a table by window for two, that was not accommodated. A table for 4 by window stayed empty for the night while we were there. Restaurant space is small & kitchen is part of dining area so you will hear dishes clacking all night untill restaurant closing. In fact there are tables for 2 right next to kitchen dish area. Otherwse excellent french food expérience.
Always superb!!! The staff, chefs, waiters, & delicious menu . The best French cuisine in the city & bring your own wine.
The food was amazing! It's fresh, delicious & on point. Intimate space with wonderful service. Bring your own wine is a wonderful touch as thé resto focuses on contemporary classic French food.
Le P'tit Plateau was highly recommended by a relative, to our party of 4 visiting Montreal. We loved everything about it - the atmosphere, our very efficient & pleasant waiter, the fact that we could bring our own wine & above all, the reasonably priced, very delicious & excellently prepared regional French food. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
Had an excellent dinner & service at this cozy french restaurant. Classic dishes. The escargot, seafood gratin, magret & venison were all good.
I love this restaurant. The food is impeccable,& always super Delicious.. The service always great, & honesty my favourite French fair in Montreal. You won't leave hungry, which can happen with French cuisine. BYOW, Seriously, it's a magnificent place. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful traditional French Bistro food. Everything absolutely delicious. Great service, cosy neighborhood atmosphere, reasonable prices. BYOB. Who could ask for more!
BYOB bistro like with a southwest French influenced menu. Compact meat based plates. Very friendly & convivial atmosphere & service. Good value & highly recommend.
Delicious, high-quality classic southern French food, lovely ambience, excellent service, & bring your own wine. What's not to like?
A long-time neighborhood gem with great, traditional French food & attentive & responsive service. Have been coming here for many years & always visit when we're in Montreal. The duck is especially good, as is the homemade smoked salmon.
Good but lacked brighter seasonings, if you are a decent cook you might feel underwhelmed. Nice atmosphere, service... a bit cold & standoffish (we tried our best to speak French while the server stubbornly stuck to French only though he knew English:)
Fabulous local gem. We loved it for the second time, delicious French food, had venison, lamb shank, salmon, steak, all wonderful! Very good service too! We will be back!
Typical French bistro. Exactly what we look for when we visit Montreal.
Hidden gem of a neighborhood French bistro. You need to try it to believe it!
Fantastic food. Great, attentive service. Fabulous little French restaurant.
Excellent classic French inspired food. Super attentive & helpful wait staff. Highly recommend dinner there if in Montreal.
Offers a traditional French menu but the dishes we ordered were very well executed & tasty. We especially liked the venison dish & the cassoulet. Our host was friendly & helpful.
Excellent restaurant. Our waiter was so great that I assumed he was the owner. The food is superb - one of the best meals we've had. We started with the house cured smoked salmon - very lightly smoked & tasty. My husband had the venison & said it was the best he's ever had. I had the lamb shank which was also fabulous. It's pricey but worth it & being a BYOB helps. If you like French / French-Canadian food & game, you must try this place. Reservations are highly recommended since it's a small place.
Really good French traditional cuisine, & very friendly staff. :)
Very special. Very French Bistro. Glad we did not miss it
Amazing hidden gem! Food is wonderful, personalize service, great atmosphere. My favorite French restaurant in Montreal!
Excellent service, excellent food. Authentic southern French cuisine.
Charming restaurant with attentive service offering good quality French food at reasonable price.
Very quaint little french restaurant with amazing food & ambiance. Portions were reasonable & most importantly flavours were on point. A must visit in Montreal.
Delicious French cuisine which is reasonably priced.
Quaint little French Bistro with very creative menu. I ordered the duck magret with foie gras & cooked just right. My dish was dilectible & my friend had the swordfish. She was also satisfied with her dish. The presentation for both dishes was lovely. We also had dessert, the crème brûlée which was very good & the homemade sorbet( three different flavours). The pear flavour was the only one that we did not like. The mango & raspberry flavours were delicious, like eating real fruit. The waiters were both from France very attentive & friendly. The e decor was beatiful. & reminded me of being in France. A plus was that it was a bring your own wine. I would absolutely recommend & definitely go back go back.
Wonderful experience! The service was attentive yet not over bearing (we always had water & bread). The ambiance was warm & inviting. The food was great - true French dishes that were well executed. The great part is it is BYOB which makes for good value at the end of the night. Would highly recommend & look forward to going back!
Excellent & classic French food in a cozy & unpretentious atmosphere. This is one of my Montreal favourites! Great location in the Plateau off the main streets. As a bring your own wine, it is great value for money. Highly recommend!
Charming, friendly, professional & delicious, do not miss this restaurant. We attended this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary & we had a great meal, professionally prepared & served in a charming setting. It is in an area where there are not a lot of restaurants so we approached with some trepidation which disappeared instantly upon entering. We were greeted warmly & shown to our table. It is a BYOW establishment & our server immediately brought over an ice basket for our white wine & uncorked both bottles. It is an open kitchen so you can see the chef & cooks working their artistry. To start we had cream of carrot & parsnip soup, which was wonderfully seasoned & amazingly smooth that we gobbled up & wiped our bowls with slices of the delicious French bread. We followed that with an appetizer of grilled thin slices of teriyaki duck breast DELICIOUS. We both had as the entree a special of marinated hanger steak served with mushroom & sides of green beans, potato gratin & purée of cauliflower. The flavors, presentation & service were all fantastic. Portions are properly sized, neither too large nor too small. For dessert we had what turns out to be their speciality croustillants Gaston's with Armagnac ice cream & delicious coffee. The dessert was amazing. The price point is very fair for the quality of the experience & professionalism from everyone, it was a great way to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Very small non-pretentious BYOW restaurant with excellent quality of food! It was impossible to park anywhere around the restaurant & we had to park 3 blocks down from the restaurant. At the end the owner mentioned to us that there is a parking across the street & it costs 10$, which would be great if we knew that before. But the restaurant is about the food & not parking, right? The cuisine is French Sud-Ouest. A lot of dishes with duck & fois gras. The dessert was excellent as well! It's not a posh restaurant, but food, their taste & presentation are 5 stars! Quality/price ratio is good. Will recommend it to my friends & come back again!
This is a timeless restaurant with low key relaxed ambience, attentive service & especially with serious classic french cuisine. The dishes are all attentively & creatively prepared. This place is worthy of high praise & recommendation.
This is a charming little restaurant. I selected it because I found reviews that it was a romantic spot & we weren't disappointed. This small restaurant had 3 walls with large windows, & on the warm night we were there, they were all open to let the spring breeze blow through, & let the sunshine in. It was so nice to just sit & enjoy the evening. The menu is small & very French & we could hardly decide what to order because everything looked so good. We enjoyed our meal very much, & definitely liked bringing our own wine! I would say this is a great neighbourhood spot to celebrate with a meal. I would say our total bill for 2 including dessert, was about $125.
I'm honestly aghast at some of the reviews of Le P'tit Plateau. People who find the service odious? People who find the food bad? I believe there must be two things going on. 1) people have to realize this is a small restaurant with a menu-fixe that has exactly two sittings; it is incumbent upon the restaurant to provide for client's needs during each sitting; it is incumbent upon the clients to arrive in a timely fashion to allow the staff to do their job - being 30 minutes late is much more of an imposition than guests can imagine because it interferes with the entire workflow of the restaurant & potentially compromises the second sitting. 2) the food is excellent, locally sourced, & unusual in the sense that it is not chicken breast or roast beef; rather it is some of the tastiest & subtle game flavors one can find in Montreal - & prepared with the chef's respect for the ingredients. Bring your own wine - what a fantastic concept - & well suited for this fine French food. At one time or another, my guests & I have eaten Bambi, Thumper, Donald Duck, & Mother Goose - all being exquisite. My favorite is the lamb, which is nothing short of astonishing. I never seem to have room for dessert, & yet I always manage a bit of my spouse's :-) Make a reservation for the second sitting, arrive a few minutes early or just on time - as if you were going to a friend's home for dinner, & settle in for some of the best dining available in the city.
Underrated jewel for excellent french cuisine at an exceptionally reasonable price for the quality & presentation of the dishes. I have been to the restaurant several times & felt that every time was a surprise (they keep introducing new items to their menu). This restaurant figures on the top of my good quality-price list along with La Prunelle on Duluth.
