Overall, reviews describe Le Piment Rouge as a stylish, high-end Chinese restaurant with generally strong flavors and attentive service, though experiences vary by dish and some criticisms surface about temperature, portion size, and value for money. Several dishes are singled out as excellent, especially wok and Sichuan specialties, while some meals arrive tepid, portions feel small, or sauces seem heavy or overly priced. The service is often described as professional and friendly, with staff praised for attentiveness, though language barriers or uneven communication can slow visits. Many readers say they would return to explore more of the menu, while others decide not to revisit due to inconsistency or cost.
As someone who's lived in Montreal for nearly 20 years, I have to say-this is one of the best high-end Chinese restaurants in the city. We ordered several authentic dishes from the special menu, & every single one impressed. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, presentation, & flavors make it well worth it.
The peanut butter dumplings were some of the best I've ever had! Staff was extremely warm & the service was excellent, all set in a beautiful atmosphere. Definitely will be coming back.

Great experience & a MUST in the Montreal food scene especially when it comes to Szechuan food. The staff is welcoming & the food lives up to its reputation. I highly recommend trying Le Piment Rouge, you will not be disappointed.
What a great surprise! The quality of the food is excellent... & the service is outstanding. We were genuinely surprised at how good it all was with each plate that came out. The general tao is the best I've ever had... the shrimp is amazing & the dessert is beautiful.. everything was delicious. A must try spot for anyone looking for quality Chinese food.
Beau resto.

Walking into Le Piment Rouge feels like stepping into the warm embrace of a favorite Chinese aunt you didn't know you had. Nestled in the hip Mile-Ex, this gem lets you savor the fire & finesse of authentic Szechuan cuisine without braving the downtown traffic-a win for anyone who values both their taste buds & their sanity. The dynamic duo of Virginia & Howard, treat every guest like an old friend, ensuring you're not just fed, but genuinely cared for. The dishes? Oh, they don't just speak to you, but they sing - like Celine Dion vocals with the beauty of Lucy Liu. Le Piment Rouge is a love letter to Szechuan cuisine, & trust me, it's one worth reading-& eating-again & again.
Quel excellent repas, raffiné, savoureux, généreux. Des dumplings aux arachides parfaits, un général tao comme jamais mangé, & que dire du porc à l'ail. Merci à l'équipe, très belle soirée du réveillon de Noël!
Everytime I go the food is absolutely fantastic! You can tell it's Fresh & authentic! It's defiently not the typical commercial food this is sooo tasty & different from the rest I highly recommend but Only thing I wish is for it have more ambiance to make it more cozy ...it's a very bright room that's beautifully decorated but lights need to be a little dimmer & maybe music a little higher so that the voices & convos of the guests in room gets simmered down with the music in background It would change the whole ambiance ...

The original owner of this iconic Montreal restaurant recently reopened the once famous Peel Street restaurant in the suburbs. Mrs Ma was there & is still serving up some of the best Chinese food anywhere.
Amazing food & amazing service ! The shrimp with sweet potato is a must. Crispy beef & dumplings were excellent. My wife loved the won ton soup, me me it was ok. All in all we had a great meal & will definitely be going back . Only reason I removed 1 star was due to fact they have their minimum tip set at 18% on machine. I was already going to leave 18% since service was excellent but you shouldn't force it on your clients. Your clients should be ones deciding how much they wanna tip & minim should always be 15%, anything above should be at discretion of your client who is the one paying & judging service they got.
I'd highly recommend people to dine at this restaurant once. I truly love the food here, it's very tasty & the ambience is really cozy. The service is top-notch & a big thanks to Miss Virginia, who is very hospitality & knowledgeable in presenting the origin of every single dish that I ordered. Most importantly, you should try the Hunan wonton with peanut butter sauce. (you won't regret it.) The location is very accessible just 7 minute's walk away from the metro Acadie.
The restaurent is really beautiful, the food was correct. Taste fresh but i was expecting better especially for the price. I still enjoyed my meal but not my bill. The service was something else, the waiters were as confused as the customers about what was going on, they seem to be in a restaurant for the first time of their life. It took 25 minutes to get someone to come see us & take our order & we were sitting for 45 minutes before we got a glass of water. It make dinner funny having 5 different waiters who were really friendly trying to take care of us & what seem to be the manager trying to understand why we do not get our food rather than organizing his team for everything to go smoothly. definitely not enjoyable to wait so much to get average overprice food. I will keep a good memory of the chaos of service that happen under my eyes for a not busy service night but i would not recommend anyone to go there unfortunately.
