Le Petit Dep comes across as a cozy, photogenic cafe and small shop in Old Montreal, blending coffee, pastries and a curated range of local goods and souvenirs in a compact, charming space that many visitors find welcoming and lively. Reviewers praise the warm atmosphere, the historic interior and the vibe that makes it a great spot to chat or grab a snack, while noting that seating is limited and the shop can get crowded. Drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, matcha and chai are often highlighted for quality, and pastries such as almond croissants and scones earn high marks, with the shop area offering chocolates, jams and other local products. Some experiences mention excellent and friendly service, while others describe occasional delays or inconsistent service. Several reviews point out practical downsides such as a no laptop policy in certain areas, limited toilets, occasional construction outside and a higher price point. Overall, Le Petit Dep is seen as a charming, must visit place for atmosphere and a varied selection of treats, but it may feel touristed, not ideal for long work sessions, and not every item hits the mark.
This busy little cafe is totally Instagram worthy! It was consistently busy, with folks wanting to capture beautiful memories in this place. It is wonderful that they serve delicious drinks & pastries! I have to say I enjoyed my latte & cookies enough to keep visiting them during my short stay in Montreal! A must-visit if you are in the area!
Our home away from home, Le Place D Armes, I was first drawn to get a coffee, excellant by the way. But we had many lunches as well. First night we got a lovely pinot & soft cheese to take back to our room. Delightful.
Love our experience here! One of the best coffee we had in Montreal. Service & food is also great! We had a matcha latte & london fog & they didn't disappoint! Place is really cute & spacious enough. We went April 2025 & there is construction in front so just beware.
Un endroit super & très beau! Le matcha & la crème glacée sont excellents! Il y a malheureusement parfois beaucoup trop de clients & on peut se sentir coincés dans la boutique, surtout lorsqu'on mange sur place.
Cute shop with coffee, baked goods, local goods including vegan & gluten free packaged treats- would not recommend doing the gluten free baked goods if celiac as they're in the same case & worker said they do not change gloves etc.

got a dirty chai & it was terrible if i'm being honest, & the giant oreo was just okay, but this place is so beautiful & such a great ambiance especially on the weekend in the evening so I will be coming back & hopefully I get a better drink :)
Was a random visit but was a warm visit to le petit dep. We were walking around for some time & wanted to take a break so when we searched for a spot nearby, we found this little cafe to stop by. Both hubby & I got the earl grey, & we both thought they were great. Don't think it's a good cafe to do long laptop work but it's a cute spot for a chat with a friend or first date? Up to u. Had random local products for u to check out in the shop as well. Not bad for souvenirs. Either way, Good drinks, good cookie. Cute vibe :)
Cute café with a shop for visitors to peruse. I visited late at night & only got a hot chocolate with my croissant. Seating is limited, & also anti-laptop. A nice place to enjoy a snack, check your phone, or chat with a friend.
Got 2 chai lattes, $15 for both, & they were tiny. They had no size options. They were the size of an average'small'. I could get past the price & sizes, but they were absolutely undrinkable. They were over-spiced & under-flavoured, so it was basically hot, spicy milk. Yes, they were spicy, it was literally burning our tongues. We ended up throwing them away after taking a few sips just to warm up.
I'm sure there's good things on the menu, but the chai is not one of them.
Don't write this place off or anything, but I'd stay away from the chai.
Endroit étonnant, on dirait un petit musée de brique à braque, il y a plein de petit chose sympa à acheter comme souvenir & produit local! Très bien pour lire ou retrouver des amis mais pas du tout pour travailler, dommage

The coffee here was very enjoyable & the atmosphere is very enjoyable. My partner & I ducked in here for a hot chocolate to go while it was snowing today & were charmed by the vibe into drinking it at the seats by the window. The staff has been friendly both times we’ve been & I can’t get over how cute this spot is.
Popped in here on a very cold day visiting Old Montreal & had a delightful snack. The cappuccinos & the almond croissant were all OUTSTANDING, 5-star, full stop. Staff were friendly & on the hop. It's a bit tight in the shop so you should be prepared to take out. That said, if you find a seat, the trinkets & decorations add a cool vibe to the place. 5/5 would recommend.
