Review Summary

Le Parva is described as a small, pleasant cafe in a good location with welcoming staff, offering sandwiches, salads, pastries and tea that are generally praised, and an excellent latte at a very reasonable price, with Nutrinor milk highlighted as a high quality Quebec product. Coffee quality is mixed, with the espresso criticized for weak flavor and inconsistent preparation, possibly due to changes in suppliers or technique, while other reports suggest attempts to improve the coffee experience. The cafe is noted as being inside the library area and another spot in the hall is considered more interesting by some, with service experiences ranging from great prices and generous portions to long waits and unfriendly service on a November visit. Le Parva is also known for pastries that for several years included vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, but a change of pastry chef reportedly diminished the lineup, though locally produced ingredients and on site baking remain, and sandwiches can take extra time if reheated.

After being ignored by the staff for a while, I was told that they no longer served sandwiches - which they had had 2 trays full of 5 minutes prior, but had already put away (an hour & a half before their closing time).
I was then offered a leftover salad & soup combo, given to me in small takeout containers even though I was eating on the premises. While the soup was decent, the salad left a lot to be desired & there was no cutlery available for it (just a wooden disposable spoon for the soup). Even after paying I continued to be ignored by the staff, who seemed annoyed when I finally got their attention to ask for my receipt.
I have no problem with employees wanting to get ready a little bit early for a close, but when you're hours are supposed to be until 6pm, shutting down your food service at 16:30 is entirely excessive.
I chose this place to try to support a local business, & not just another chain restaurant, but that seemed to have been a mistake.
This review is for the location in the library building, but the cafe inside the library proper. Honestly, after my experience here, I don't know if I'd be willing to give the other location a try.

Good place to stop & take a break from studying at the library. The food is good enough for a snack! There is always a soup of the day, some sandwich options & viennoiseries. Prices are ok. It's simple furniture but really is a place where you could meet in the area that is cosy & quiet enough! It serves its purpose well, & i'd recommend
