Review Summary

Le Jardin De Panos is widely regarded as a classic Montreal Greek restaurant with generous portions, solid value, and a warm, convivial atmosphere. Dishes such as souvlaki, moussaka, calamari and pikilia regularly receive praise for flavor and portion size, and the bring-your-own-wine option is consistently noted as a major plus along with a pleasant garden or heated terrace setting. The ambiance is described as lively and family friendly, though it can be very noisy when busy. Service is a mixed bag: many visits experience attentive, friendly staff and smooth dining, while others note slow or uneven service and occasional mis-timed courses. Overall, the restaurant is seen as a reliable go-to for celebrations, casual dinners with friends or family, and long-time visits, with many guests highlighting the tradition and consistent quality over the years. A few reviews point to room for improvement in consistency, cooking temperatures, and occasional dishes arriving cooler or drier, but the overall impression remains positive and encourages return visits.

excellent Greek food, but expect a very loud dining room because this Bring Your Own Wine restaurant is so popular. service was very attentive but not the warmest - waiter dutifully opened our wine bottle, brought ice bucket, quickly brought anything we asked for (tzatziki, cream for coffee) but seemed very standoffish - maybe it was too busy or whatever. the quality of the food made up for it - very tender &delicious fried calamari (small portion though, & no complimentary tzatziki - you need to order it on the side - but it's worth it), great potatoes, best house salad I've had in a long time at a restaurant, filet mignon cooked perfectly, very generous portion of 4 lamb chops - also perfect, shrimp were tasty but small, & excellent coffee/ dessert (baklava, creme caramel). complimentary bread basket but butter was cold.

This is an awesome restaurant where you can bring your own wine. We sat in the garden area, even though it was cold outside, they have heaters so we were very comfortable. The service was excellent along with the food! Highly recommend!

A classic Greek restaurant funded in 1979 . Very cold lamb was served & it was disappointing . Very slow service & they didn't care that much. Reasonable price /quality ratio. Bring your own wine.

Great place, the terrasse is very nice...the'lunch' deal is also great ! Only disappointment is the potatoes. They use to be cooked in wine or something...super delicious ! I was actually craving them regularly.
Now the potatoes are good like most restaurants, but nothing special. I hope they bring them back......
That said, I will be back.

Always a pleasurable experience at our favourite Greek restaurant in Montreal. Our only dissapointment was not being able to purchase Retsina wine at the SAQ stores to accmpany our dining experience.

Love the ambiance, location & staff. Dishes are always fresh. One of the best grills in town. Bring your own wine. It brings me back to my old undergraduate McGill days. Highly recommend !

We go to this Greek restaurant in Plato often, & it is extremely beautiful. 🇬🇷😍 The restaurant's design is particularly enchanting in the fall, with vibrant colors that create a warm & inviting atmosphere. 🍂🍁 The yard tables look especially picturesque against the backdrop of autumn foliage. The food is delicious, & we are big fans of their moussaka. 😋 A fantastic feature of this restaurant is their special offer: if you order before 3 p.m., you get a complimentary appetizer & dessert with coffee or tea alongside your main course. 🆓☕️🍰 Plus, you can bring your own wine, making it an even better deal. 🍷💰 This offer is available even on weekends, making it a perfect choice for a relaxing weekend lunch. ☀️🍽️ #foodie #greekfood #hiddengem #weekendvibes

Pleasant experience & atmosphere was great. Friendly waiters who knew his menu very well. Would be even better if they provided wine glasses though.

Quaint, old school restaurant. Fantastic atmosphere & beautiful outdoor garden in the back. You can bring your own bottle of wine.. Food was excellent although it did take over an hour to get my steak. They said it wasn't done right the first time. The gave us a free dessert to make up for the delay. You will need to find parking away from the restaurant as it is on a street that is walk only.

Great food & service. A bit noisy on Saturday evening. Prices are reasonable in today's market. Bring your own wine. Parking difficult. We used the Metro.

More or less a 3.5 star experience. We had the lunch special, basically you get a free entrée & dessert. The food was ok, the meat was really good, like really good & well marinated, the sauce & marinades are a big hit. The salads & sides really did not impress me. desserts were also excellent. Of course this place has the teasse that is nice but we were sitting inside. The decor is ok but I din't really like it, felt kind of old & not well maintained. I would recomend this place for like a date or something, its bring your own wine so definitly bring a bottle. Not too expensive 20$- 30$. Nice place, but I had higher expectations. Oh yea, also the white soup is like chiken cream or something & its terrible don't order that. Souvlaki is excellent.

I use to come here often & I recently came back with my daughter 30 years later. I like the pork & chicken souvlaki with the Greek potatoes. It's bring your own wine which is nice. It has a cozy feel to the place. Casual dress. Everything is reasonably priced with good service & friendly staff.

The food was deliciously flavoured. The Walnut cake was a highlight for me... Something very unique & the perfect amount of sweetness (meaning "not too much sugar" in my opinion). Lovely restaurant with lunch special which seems to be common around the Plateau during lunch hour. A European culture I totally appreciate! Also you can bring your own wine also typical in the area.

So, I walked by this restaurant over the summer & saw how busy it looked so I said to myself that I would give it a try. It's also a bring your own wine restaurant.

I ended up coming here yesterday & outside in the back. It was nice since the roof was open & it was warm out.

When sat down, we had been given bread but unfortunately it was dry. It would of also been nice if they gave proper wine glasses instead of small water glasses. However, we had been given an ice bucket to keep the wine cold.

The chicken skewers had been pretty good although a little strong on the lemon side. The appetizer was good as well but again the bread was dry which made it less enjoyable.

It was nice that we weren't booted after paying the bill. We had been able to stick around to enjoy our wine as the restaurant started winding down.

This place never disappoints! The chicken brochette meal & tzatziki are always a winner. Bring your own wine!

THE GOOD
Had dinner with visiting family in the garden. Other than being a bit dark/difficult to read the menus, the garden is pleasant & lends to a lively & inviting atmosphere. The food & portions were good.

THE BAD
Unfortunately our service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter was consistently absent, each of the tables in his section were left waiting, looking, & asking for him throughout all aspects of the evening. We waited far too long to order, opened & poured our own wine as the ice bucket requested repeatedly took too long to arrive, our orders, once finally taken, were messed up so that the Mezze platter, ordered to tie us over while we waited for our main dishes, came at the same time as our mains which took forever to arrive, getting our bill required flagging down another waiter & asking for ours, who had disappeared, to return. Needless to say, a satisfaction follow-up during our meal was non-existent. Our small section in the garden was the last left with diners at the end of our evening, tables still pretty well fully occupied & other diners still waiting on important elements to their evening — food, coffees & desserts, settling of the bill, etc…
Added to this, upon leaving we caught sight of our waiter on his cell phone chatting while smoking in the shadows of a neighbouring building — this undoubtedly contributed to the random coughs he expelled while leaning over our table, off-putting at any time but especially post pandemic & as COVID numbers are again being reported in the news!

With inflation, dining out is more of a luxury these days & this waiter made our evening a disappointing & rather embarrassing restaurant suggestion to take our visiting family. (I am leaving 2 stars for service as zero stars is not an option so the only elective star is in acknowledgement of the other staff, who helped in locating our waiter when requested & did seem more conscientious & attentive to their sections.
