The intimate setting makes it a good choice for celebrations or a special night out, though seating is limited and pacing can vary. Overall the experience combines quality, creativity and warmth, inviting return visits.
It was a great experience dining at restaurant le carré. Scallop dish was good, but not top. On the other hand, we loved their duck pasta. Hearty but not too heavy/oily for the stomach. At the end, we asked Jean-François for a recommendation for a small dish to finish off our meal. He recommended the brussel sprouts dish garnished with cumin & pear sauce, which we loved. It was the perfect light ending for our meal that did not overwhelm us. Oh & JF also made our drink (passion carré) which was the right amount of sweet & sour. Thank you for the amazing experience!
Small & cozy restaurant that deliver great ambiance, very tasty food & surrounded by motivated staffs. I took the beef carpaccio & the seafood risotto. & I recommend them.

Whiskey old fashioned surprised me & it was pretty good. Small restaurant with excellent food , I would recommend a reservation. Not plenty of sitting area so book that table ahead of the game. Excellent service as well with friendly staff.
Visited in the summer of 2025, had an amazing meal. Even the starter bread & butter was such a good combination. Highlight's from the main included the duck confit pasta, the sauce was rich & lots of depth to the dish. Dessert was a dish that included ice cream & it was flat out best vanilla ice cream ever, so dense & smooth tasting. Overall, highly recommend!
Since Le Carre is attached to a hotel, I expected a corporate style restaurant, but was pleasantly surprised to see they arent afraid to serve good food with an interesting twist.
The calamari & salad were solid starters, & the pea & leek soup was fantastic. The sea bass was quite impressive with a lot of sour notes-almost too much but I appreciate the unique flavor. They nicely split the octopus for us. The streak was tender & I highly recommend the duck pasta.
Desserts were nicely plated & garnished: I wasnt sure what to expect with the brownie but it was rather crispy & elegantly plated. The creme brulee was nice & thin & came out flaming.
Service was good throughout the night, & the interior is small but elegant.
This place really surprised us. The menu seemed very mundane but what you were given was high quality ingredients cooked very well.
Started with the brussel sprouts & calamari. The brussel sprouts were cooked to perfection with poached pears with the natural flavor coming out in each bite. The calamari was some of the most crispy bites we've ever had.
Our mains included seafood risotto, lamb shoulder, hanger steak & cod fish & chips. Lamb shoulder hands down the best of the bunch. Tender moist & delicious flavor. Seafood risotto was full of textures & flavor. Fish & chips had a wonderful slaw topped with caviar. Hanger steak was cooked to perfection medium rare with a wonderful char. Flavors were all seasoned & exquisite without being over powered.
Dessert included a lemon pie & cream brûlée. Lemon pie was very different a worth a try & the crème brûlée was probably the most plain but presentation was gorgeous.
We recommend reservations as seats were limited & we lucked out getting a seat. Service was spot on & attentive. Definitely recommend this place.
Excellent restaurant !

Restaurant Le Carré is a true culinary standout in downtown Montreal. The moment you step in, the atmosphere is refined yet inviting a perfect'cozy-chic' setting for a truly super high-end food experience. Their commitment to Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, utilizing local Quebec products, shines through in every plate. I highly recommend the sward fish it was impeccably prepared, showcasing both skill & creativity. The presentation of the dishes is artful, & the service is polished, attentive, & genuinely warm. Whether for a business lunch or a special occasion dinner, Le Carré delivers an elevated, memorable meal that justifies every dollar. A must-visit for serious gourmands!
Went for dinner with my mom & we ordered the lamb & duck confit pasta per recommendation. The duck confit pasta was heavenly & very filling! The lamb was super tender & I loved the baba ganoush but I felt the sauces were a bit too sweet so the plate lacked balance. The veggies were glazed too so there were too many sweet things. Otherwise, the lamb itself was so good. Their salad is also amazing, I recommend it. My mom & I did not get drinks, shared a salad & shared dessert, so it came to only $60 per person & we were very full & satisfied. We will be back to try other dishes!!
Our first night in Montreal & the food, drinks, ambiance & staff were outstanding. James was our host & our guide & he was cordial, knowledgeable & attentive.
Highly recommended.

I was in town for a conference & chose Le Carré for a nice dinner because it was nearby.
I walked in the door & James sat me at the bar & proceeded to take the best care of me for the rest of the evening.
I was torn between 3 mains that all looked good, & James talked me into ordering the lamb shoulder. He said it was the best dish they served, & still it exceeded my expectations. I asked him for a wine to go with it, & he recommended a full bodied red that paired very well.
For dessert he recommended the crispy maple squares, despite the fact I was considering 3 other options. At this point I felt I had no choice but to listen to James, & again he did not disappoint.
This was easily the nicest meal I have had in years. Thank you very much James & the staff behind the scenes at Le Carré. I wish I lived closer so that I could visit again soon.
I am shocked by the 4.7 review( as of July 2025), I did not feel like the food was up to expectations. Most of the table took the duck pasta because the waiter recommended it, it was a good 6/10. Did not taste like any duck was in it & the ingredients were particular… Honestly so disappointing. The service was really just okay, nothing special. The restaurant is very small, so you probably need a reservation.
Party of 12 for dinner. Fantastic food, presentation & service. Couple of vegetarian options. Everyone had great things to say about the taste. Ambience was outstanding too. Highly recommend. For the food & experience the process was very good.

We visited on a week day for lunch. I'm glad we waited until close to one as the place is very crowded with people on lunch break & it is not very large.
We were greeted warmly & shown to our table. Drink service was prompt.
I ordered Tuna Tartare & my companion ordered Cod fish & chips. Both were delightful. The sauce on the tuna was a perfect complement along with the arugula salad on the side. The Cod was fried to perfection with a very light flaky batter. Both included fries which were salted with just the right amount.
We lingered & ordered dessert. Our server recommended the Maple Crunch squares, which was a great suggestion. It was just the right balance of savory & sweet.
Had dinner at Le Carré last Saturday. The ambiance was cozy & elegant. The service was top-notch & friendly. The food was amazing. Highly recommend for a great dining experience in Montreal.
