Le Boucan focuses on traditional smokehouse techniques to deliver bold flavors through slow-cooked meats and hickory-smoked delicacies. The menu features tender pulled pork, beef brisket, and succulent ribs prepared with house-made rubs and signature sauces. Guests experience a focused culinary approach where the smoke provides the primary seasoning for every main plate. Beyond standard barbecue offerings, the kitchen constructs stacked burgers utilizing high-quality beef patties and artisan buns to ensure a robust profile. Accompaniments such as crispy fried pickles and classic slaw provide a textured contrast to the rich, savory proteins. The atmosphere emphasizes a straightforward dedication to the craft of authentic smoking, prioritizing the integrity of the cooking process over unnecessary stylistic embellishments to maintain a focused standard of quality throughout the menu.
Le Boucan is widely regarded as a fantastic destination for barbecue enthusiasts, celebrated for its tender smoked meats, flavorful wings, and generous portions. Many visitors highlight the delicious pulled pork, brisket, and the signature napkin burger as standout menu items, often complemented by well-seasoned fries and unique additions like brussels sprouts. The atmosphere is frequently described as cozy and welcoming, featuring a charming backyard terrace that is perfect for summer dining. While experiences can vary, the majority of guests appreciate the friendly, attentive service and the overall casual, vibrant vibe, making it a highly recommended spot for a satisfying meal.
Smelled disappointment from the second we walked in, or more accurately didn't smell any of the titular boucane. Served tepid water & told no room on terrace in spite of our birthday reservation. Waited 45 minutes for our drinks, mine had particles floating in it from what I hope was just a dirty glass for my 14$ single shot of bourbon. Waited another hour for the food, so had plenty of time to appreciate the poorly lit & dirty bathrooms. Eventually were given a seat on the terrace & made to stand there while they cleaned it. Brisket burnt ends as others have said are not burnt or ends or glazed, dry & taste boiled. Chicken dry, underseasoned, & definitely not or poorly smoked (where even is the smoker in that miniscule kitchen), ribs were fine but laughably small, sides underseasoned, BBQ sauce watery & sugary, didn't bother with dessert. Staff were disorganized & management seemed to sit around drinking. All in all a disappointing excuse for a so called smokehouse which it clearly is not, just a mediocre, cramped BBQ joint. Nowhere near worth the money & definitely not worth the ridiculous wait. After working in the industry for many years I know a poorly run place when I see it. Do yourself a favor & hard pass.
Although there's a pretty terrace out back, the food took over 3 hours & even after waiting hours they only then told us things were out of stock. For a smoke house to be out 3 of their options seemed ridiculous. No pulled pork, no jackfruit, no nachos, no Brussels. Very limited options but only to be told once we'd ordered them & waited for them. Our drinks even took forever to come & the waitress seemed very sarcastic about it all. Wouldn't return even though the food was ok when it came but nothing amazing.
Not a fancy place at all, but Food is just plain DELICIOUS! We ordered Ribs, Chicken Wings & Shrimps, all satisfied our taste buds totally! I will definitely come back next time I am in Montreal, & TOTALLY RECOMMEND!
What a sad disappointment. Soooo many things that it would take forever to list. The Beef brisket burnt ends are not burnt & not ends .. just small chunks of brisket with a splash of sauce on them. Not even close to being crispy or burnt & definitely not ends. This was at one point, a shining star restaurant for southern style bbq. Sadly, now it's no longer a star but a frowning moon. We would not recommend this restaurant.
Loved this place, the food was amazing. My hubby & I took the Pit boss. It was enough for 2 adults & still had leftovers. The kids loved the pulled pork poutine & Mac & cheese. Wasn't too big on the dessert, but was still quite good. The music was really nice & enjoyable. Parking was super hard to find, but will be coming back. Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the food since I was more into eating for 2 hehe :)
Delicious burger (5 Napkins), not overcooked, very tender, with melty high-quality cheddar. I liked the choice of sides (got double green salad which was a good portion). They were very accommodating about replacing the bun with lettuce, & even made me a sugar-free mojito, which I enjoyed in their cozy backyard terrace. Overall a good experience & excellent value.
