L'Ambroisie and L'Espace Canal are located in the courtyard of Chateau St-Ambroisie, a historical heritage building situated on the edge of the Lachine Canal in the St-Henri district of Montreal. Only a few minutes from downtown, the restaurant welcomes a business clientele and groups of friends, in a casual atmosphere. Stuart Abrams, chef and owner, invites you to discover his establishment, renowned for its terraces and elegant reception rooms.
Our Happy Hour are every Tuesday to Friday from 4pm to 7pm. In the summer, watch for our Thursday's Live music! on the terrace.

I can not recommend this venue enough for a wedding!! We were married July 2025 & we had Alexandra as our coordinator. She is AMAZING! She is incredibly efficient at her job & making you feel as ease on your big day.
Venue - beautiful & perfect for a hot summer wedding. Spacious outdoor patio & beautiful & air conditioned space indoors. If you can, get married outside at the gazebo. It makes for such a special ceremony.
Bar - the bartenders here always so incredibly nice. We had been guests at this venue before, & each & every time the staff is on-it & personable. The drinks were also so tasty. Opt for the premium bar if you can, it does not disappoint.
Food - we opted for a BBQ to allow for more mingle time, best decision we ever made. Also, the food was even better than the tasting (which was delicious). The owner manned the BBQ in his cowboy hat & brought his homemade horseradish sauce for the steaks.
Decorations/Lights - you NEED the lights, they absolutely added to the ambiance & made any indoor pictures way cuter. They are ~$800, but if there is a wedding/event the day before or day after, you can ask to share the cost (saving you almost half the cost).
DJ/Music - Our only'meh' experience was with the company who is hired to do the music. My husband put together a long & comprehensive email & several playlists for the DJ to riff off of (pre dinner, post dinner, opening up the dance floor, last hour of the party etc.), but the coordinator for the AV team never sent the DJ our email so we had to send it night of after listening to several super cheesy songs. We are very picky when it comes to music, so we had to insist to sticking to the playlist vibes. Once that was taken care of, we proceeded to dance the night away.
TLDR: best venue, best staff, & one of the most affordable places in Montreal to hold a wedding.
I just had my wedding at L'Espace Canal last weekend, & what an incredible experience! From planning the event with the venue coordinator, Alexa, to the flexibility with menu creation with chef Stuart, the communication & coordination was so professional & seamless. We also had an amazing day of experience because of Jaime, Tony, Jonathan, & Rohit. We are filled with gratitude that the whole team made our wedding so memorable & perfect!!!! We got so many compliments from our guests on the food, drinks, & service.

Amazingly cute shops here. I went during a vendor event. Definitely worth a visit! Everyone here is really nice. Too bad that's what small businesses resort to for space ...
Had enough space for a large party. My only issue was the lack of space to manage registration & coat check during the event I attended ( may have been more the event's problem than the location though)
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but our venue made the process so much easier & genuinely enjoyable! From start to finish, they were an absolute joy to work with. Their team was not only accommodating & flexible with all our requests, but they also brought such a positive, fun energy that helped me feel much more relaxed throughout. Their support & enthusiasm made what could have been a stressful experience into something we could truly look forward to. We couldn't be happier with our choice & would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone planning a special event!

We contacted them as we are looking for a wedding venue. They were hardly available to meet with us, only during a limited period in the middle of the day. Communication was very complicated; we exchanged a few emails with Alexa, she wasn't particularly helpful, did not even get a reply to the last email. If now is so hard to communicate with them, I don't even want to imagine contacting them to plan the event, or to solve an unforeseen issue... We chose another venue for our wedding, no way I would ever attempt to plan anything there.
Very nice & cozy place. I went there for a company event, we had a terrasse at the back where we were all hanging out & the bar inside. The staff was friendly & the place looks good & clean
Had an absolutely wonderful wedding experience here! Our coordinator leading up to the event, Dietrich, did an excellent job answering our many questions & helping to ensure we felt confident & comfortable going into the event. During the day of the wedding we worked with Alexa, who took on all of the decorating & details of the space perfectly. The venue is gorgeous, the food delicious (almost every guest commented how on amazing the food was), & the DJ hired through the space was perfect! The venue takes care of almost everything for the wedding so we had very little to worry about in the days leading up to the event. Many thanks to Dietrich, Alexa, Amber, & all the of the staff at L'Ambroisie for making our wedding so special & memorable.
Recently had our wedding at L'Ambrosie. Simply put, outstanding. The day of the wedding , everything went extremely well, excellent service, great waiter, waitress, bartender. Food was perfectly prepared. Kitchen was on time & on the ball. Kudos to all :) Ambiance was so smooth. We booked String musicians for the service outside & had a guitarist /vocalist play at cocktail hour on terrace before going in to the dinning room Alexandra was great to deal with on setting up prior. Calm answering questions & resolving issues. Day of the event , Amber & Constance were a joy to deal with . Would easily recommend for those planning a wedding . Hands down 5 Stars

Had a wedding party there last week. May 11. Constance, the wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing. She went the extra, extra mile to make sure the evening was a success. It was. Thank you Constance. Excellent food & great service by the staff. You made it a memorable event.
Nice vibes. The staff was helpful & professional. Went for a work event, & it would have been really nice if the bar had actual non-alcoholic cocktails. The bartenders did their best, but it's not the same as what is increasingly available elsewhere. As well, I got the vegan option, but not enough information was communicated to make me particularly comfortable eating there. This restaurant considers the "vegan option" to be whatever the vegetarian option is, but without the cheese. For example, a grilled vegetable "shelf" that typically comes with feta, was served to the vegans without the feta. It was unclear if the creamed soup was suitable for vegans, same with the wine, & the music was so loud it was not a conversation I wanted to have with the waiter. The wild mushroom risotto was good, but something I could have whipped up at home in 30 minutes. All in all, the points are for the staff.
(English below) On a célébré notre mariage à l'Ambroisie il y a un mois & on a vraiment aimé comment notre événement s'est déroulé ainsi que tout le processus qui a précédé. Dès notre première visite on s'est sentis pris en main par la coordonatrice qui a évidemment beaucoup d'expérience. Leurs documents étaient complets & clairs; la structure (horaire, menu, choix pour le bar, cérémonie etc) faisait en sorte qu'on se sentait entre de bonnes mains, mais en même temps il y avait assez d'espace pour qu'on crée notre évènement à notre goût & notre image. Durant la soirée le personnel était très agréable & efficace, on sentait qu'ils avaient envie d'être là & qu'ils savaient ce qu'ils faisaient. Nous & nos invités avons tous beaucoup aimé le repas, des canapés au dessert. Franchement si c'était à refaire on choisirait le même endroit sans hésitations. Sans parler du prix qui était tout à fait abordable surtout en comparant avec d'autres restaurants dans le coin.. & que dire du jardin le long de l'eau pour la cérémonie! On est ravis. Since our first visit of the venue we felt that the coordinator had a lot of experience & we could follow her lead. Their documents are thorough & clear; the structure (schedule, menu, bar options, ceremony, etc) made us feel like we were in good hands, but at the same time there was enough space & flexibility for us to create a wedding that we felt was unique & reflected who we are. During the evening the staff was very nice & efficient, we felt that they were happy to be there & that they knew what they were doing. Our guests & us really loved the meal, from the appetizers all the way to the dessert. Honestly, if we were to do it all over again we would choose the same venue without any hesitation. The price was also very affordable, especially comparing with other restaurants in the neighbourhood. & the garden along the water for the ceremony was just so charming. If you're looking for the perfect wedding venue I highly suggest L'Ambroisie restaurant. They are very accommodating, staff is super friendly, our guests loved the food. The event coordinator, Alexandra is quick to reply & will answer every & all questions you have throughout your time planning. She is amazing & was so helpful in this process. I never had to stress with anything about the venue & that's all because of how confident I felt with Alexandra.
You have 3 options where you can do your ceremony. Inside the restaurant, outside in the terrace, or outside in their beautiful garden.
Again, if you're looking for an amazing place to hold your ceremony & reception then Restaurant L'Ambroisie is the place to do it!!
When planning our wedding, my husband & I (American) were looking for a destination wedding. We chose Montreal based on its European flair, & stopped by L'Ambroisie on a whim after reading a review. On that first day, Kevin sat down with us & gave us the personalized visit we had been missing at the other venues. He answered our questions, & didn't pressure us into committing. After looking at other venues, we decided on L'Ambroisie. From there, Nathalie answered all my questions, even the crazy ones, with rapid response. There were no "packages" no uniform choices. It really was the only venue we visited that encouraged us to have a personalized wedding. On the actual wedding day, the staff was incredible. They were all complete professionals & the wedding went off better than we ever dreamed. We were both relaxed, happy, & actually enjoying our day. Everything that was promised to us from the first meeting came true & more. The food was fabulous, the DJ was fabulous & everyone had such positive feedback. The staff even navigated the event through a rain shower mid-ceremony. I really cannot say enough positive things about my wedding experience. Thank you all at L'Ambroisie!
I was able to visit this restaurant twice. Once for a summer wedding & the second for a Christmas party. Although the location is great & you can't beat the beautiful garden. I wouldn't recommend it for large functions. It doesn't seem like they are equipped to handle big events. Food arrived late, & some was cold. Portion sizes were really uneven. Staff were noticeable stressed & arguing a lot. This place has lots of promise, but would skip it if you are having an event.
