About

La Socca centers its culinary identity on the rustic traditions of the Mediterranean basin, emphasizing the preparation of the namesake chickpea pancake as a foundational element of the menu. This establishment integrates classic French techniques with Italian regional influences to produce a cohesive selection of savory small plates and hearth-baked specialties. The kitchen prioritizes high-quality legumes, fresh produce, and olive oil to anchor every dish in authentic flavor profiles. Guests encounter a minimalist and functional environment designed to prioritize the speed and clarity of the meal. Simple preparation methods ensure that the inherent qualities of the raw ingredients remain the focus of each serving. This approach maintains a strict adherence to traditional Mediterranean methods that define the overall gastronomic direction of the kitchen.

Review from 2nd Aug 2025:

The most mediocre spaghetti carbonara & service.
Was so looking forward to their delicious spaghetti carbonara but unfortunately it fell short in every way to me.
The pasta tonight looked & tasted (tasteless) like the one from Isola that I had a in Oct-2022 (same owner).

Service was okay when we arrived, nice & friendly waitress, food took a while to arrive & we were swamped by flies (we were sat at the end corner of the restaurant outdoor), we moved indoor, my water was left at the table outside, nobody came to check in on us after, the owner did noted to the waitress to change our table number from outdoor one to the indoor one.
We waited & waited for someone to clear our table & to order dessert. Alas, nobody came & I paid & left.
I did informed the waitress of the meh carbonara.
I used to come here just for their carbonara & was so looking forward to it, especially after giving birth.

Quel dommage.

Quel dommage.

We have lived in the island for 4 years & have dined here for the very first time this evening.
They have exceeded our expectations through & through.
Service was friendly & prompt.
Their carbonara *CHEF KISS* (I unashamedly'cleaned' the plate 😅, it was THAT good).
Le mari also enjoyed the beef linguine a lot.
We're not a fan of the fries that came with the tartare de boeuf but their pasta was excellent.
I appreciate the dual-lingual service rendered to us tonight.
Beer is CAD 9/glass before tax.
The fondant au chocolat was the perfect end to our date night.
Already looking forward to our next visit.
Hidden gem in Ile-des-Soeurs.

P/S: The last call for dinner is 21:30h but the bar is open till 03:00h every Friday.

This place would probably not be on your radar unless you live in the area. I met a friend here for supper on a Thursday night without reservations. The person who greeted me sat me at a table right away since the place wasn't that busy. The vibe seemed very homey. There were a few patrons sitting at the bar chatting up a storm... probably regulars. It wasn't long before my friend arrived & we ordered drinks. The menu quickly followed with some suggestions, & our order was placed. Not much to say, but the food was delicious. I had the lamb on the table d'hote, & my friend had the cod à la carte. Service was good, thorough. No desserts this time. Would I go back? Probably... if I'm in that area again.

Little gem in Nuns' Island! Services are always good. Owner Serge treats people feel cozy in his restaurant. We love carbonara & desserts.
