Un petit resto du quartier chaleureux où on se sent bien, situé au coeur du Plateau, La Selva est un chouette restaurant mexicain génial pour une soirée tranquille entre amis et / ou famille. Le rapport qualité/prix est l'un des meilleurs en ville. Les portions sont généreuses, vous pouvez manger des excellentes crevettes, poissons et viandes accompagné de riz, salade et fèves.
La Selva Restaurant Mexicain propose des saveurs mexicaines authentiques avec des portions généreuses, un service chaleureux et attentif, et une ambiance conviviale et intime qui donne envie de revenir. Les plats mettent en valeur le poulpe à la plancha, le ceviche et les tacos variés tels que le Jefe, carnitas et al pastor, ainsi que des classiques comme les chilaquiles, le chocoflan et le flan au lait de coco. Les boissons brillent avec des cocktails frais et des aguas frescas, dont horchata et margarita au tamarin. Le rapport qualité prix est bon et l'ambiance est chaleureuse, ce qui en fait une adresse idéale pour un groupe ou une soirée tranquille; il est conseillé de réserver car l'espace est petit et prisé.
Everything was excellent & well priced. We had best tacos we've had in MTL : Tacos carnitas & Tacos el pescador were extremely fresh & abundant. Drinks were great. I had Tamarindo margarita & horchata. 10/10!!! Definitely recommend!

This is the best Mexican food I've had since moving to Montreal. We had the octopus appetizer, which was delicious & cooked perfectly. The tacos de asada & tacos de carnita were great. The flan de leche de coco was incredible as well, & we also enjoyed our cocktails. The service was attentive & friendly. Looking forward to coming back!
My friends & I came here for my bachelorette party & we had a wonderful time! Thank you very much for the warm welcome, friendly service, & delicious food! We especially enjoyed the octopus appetizer, the carnitas tacos, & the cocktails!

I think my fiance & I have found our new favourite Mexican restaurant in MTL. We are always on the hunt for good authentic Mexican food & this place really hit the spot. Our recent favourite has gone a little downhill for us as of late so we were so happy to stumble onto this place @laselvamtl
We really couldn't decide on just one thing, we rarely do, so we had to get a bunch of stuff! We got the octopus & the tuna tartare dish to start. Honestly so plesently surprised I didn't think tbh the octopus would be so tender & flavorful as it was. I know Mexican cuisine from what I've seen doesn't feature octopus so often but it was cooked as well as some of the best I've ever had. We saw like every table around us order it so we knew it was a must. Same with the tuna, light, fresh & full of complexity.I didn't expect to have in a Tartare with raspberries!
For me the star of the show was the Taco Jefe. It comes with four corn tortillas that really lend to the authenticity of Mexican Cuisine. Thinly cut ribeye with homemade chorizo an absolute must & then you get the added freshness from the grilled onions & Cactus all tied together with some cheese. Really a 10 out of 10 dish. Super impactful, bold, & extremely good portion very Hardy Taco in itself!
My fiance, her favourite was the'mini' quesadillas, the Gobernador. It was very different from a traditional taco or even quesadilla that I've had it came in a blue style tortilla with shrimp & cheese which I thought would be odd but actually really goes together very well along with some grilled vegetables Chipotle mayo & some guacamole & pico de gallo to tie it all together. I would also opt to ask for their two homemade hot sauces very spicy both of them even for someone who likes spicy but also very flavor forward!
Last but not least we have the Gringa carnita which is layers of pulled pork with cheese, vegetables, guacamole & other goodies packed in between two flour tortillas. Toasted on both sides so they get nice & crispy & the cheese melts evenly throughout!
It's important to note that you need to reserve in advance, as the place is very small.
The pulpo a la plancha was amazing! It was perfectly cooked & seasoned, the vegetables were a nice addition. I wouldn't get the Mexican plate again though. The carnitas tacos were good, though they needed the additional sauces. The special beef tacos were okay, a bit strange that you dipped the beef tacos in beef juice.
Overall nice spot & atmosphere.
2nd time going :
This time we got the octopus again because it was so good the first time & it did not disappoint! The chicken tacos were good though I think the rice isn't necessary & should be replaced with beans. The steak eye quesadillas were very tasty & cheesy.
The place itself is lovely, very cozy!
We ordered the mojito, mezcalita & rumchata, which were gooood
For dinner we ordered tacos de carnitas & tacos el jefe, both were good but the carnitas was our favorite.
I ordered the trea leches cake which was dry :(, flavor-wise was very good but it wasn't soaky as it should be.
Our waitress Paola was very nice & helpful!!

I celebrated my birthday at La Selva, & it was the most wonderful experience. The service was outstanding, the food was D E L I C I O U S, & that night, they even had live music. All my guests were happy, & we will definitely come back. I tried the carnitas asada tacos & the cocktails, & both were fantastic
Came into this small unassuming neighbourhood spot for a late lunch. Ordered a plate of carnitas tacos & a guacamole to share. Tacos were generously filled & the carnitas was very tender, flavourful & lightly smoky. The salsa verde was very mild & tangy, meanwhile the salsa roja was deep & perfectly spicy. The staff was very welcoming & catering during our meal. The chef came out to offer us a complementary bowl of frijoles. Overall very good experience with excellent food, I'll be sure to come back often.
This is the best Mexican food I have ever had!! I have traveled to San Diego & live in the Boston area & I will say that I have never had such tasty Mexican Cuisine like I have at La Selva! We shared a Green Salad, Octopus dish, Carnitas tacos & Chicken Tacos. Everything was flat Ful & fresh!! The staff at the restaurant are extremely nice & always smiling!! I cannot wait to return to Montreal & comeback to this restaurant for more food!! Gracias!!!!

The tacos here are legit. We had the fish, the carnitas, & the vegetarian tacos, all were great. We also had the guac & the tortilla soup, which was delicious. Recommend!
« Je m'excuse, la cuisine n'est pas encore prête, hier il y a eu une fête & c'était la pagaille. » C'est à peu près dans ses mots (après une traduction libre de l'espagnol) que nous a reçus la serveuse. Elle semblait réellement confuse (dans le sens français du terme, « troublée »), comme s'il s'agissait d'une occurrence tout à fait inacceptable. Nous avons tenté de la rassurer en nous montrant compréhensifs & en lui disant que nous n'étions pas pressés, elle a quand même voulu nous accommoder en nous permettant - contrairement à la règle non écrite du restaurant - d'essayer quatre tacos différents à la fois. Quelle chance unique ! Ainsi, au lieu de voir le retard comme un inconvénient, il nous a plutôt paru que nous n'aurions pu arriver à un meilleur moment ! Les voici, donc, en ordre de préférence : carnitas, asada, pollo frito & végé, tous dégoulinant (littéralement) de saveurs. « Si tu ne te salis pas en mangeant des tacos, c'est qu'ils ne sont pas bons », précisa mon amie avant qu'une goûte de sauce n'éclabousse ses pantalons blancs. Voilà donc aux yeux du monde une preuve irréfutable de leur qualité. Toutefois, la véritable vedette fut cette renversante pieuvre à la plancha, d'une tendreté frisant la perfection, qui s'est glissée sur notre table en entrée. Les dépôts de cuisson sur ses tentacules lui conféraient une profondeur gustative inégalée. Ensuite, notre estomac nous sommant de continuer à le remplir de délices, nous nous sommes attaqués à la gringa au chorizo. Caramba. Quel régal, avec tout ce fromage... Notre estomac ne réclamait plus rien... « Mais » murmura-t-il soudainement. « Mais... ¿ Qué tal un flan de leche de coco ? » D'accord... Délicieux. Vaporeux. Léger au point de se faufiler aisément dans un estomac déjà rempli. Donc, un excellent repas dans des circonstances singulières combiné à un service chaleureux dans un joli restaurant a porté nos coeurs au comble de la joie. ¡ Gracias !, hasta la próxima vez.
