Un petit resto du quartier chaleureux où on se sent bien, situé au coeur du Plateau, La Selva est un chouette restaurant mexicain génial pour une soirée tranquille entre amis et / ou famille. Le rapport qualité/prix est l'un des meilleurs en ville. Les portions sont généreuses, vous pouvez manger des excellentes crevettes, poissons et viandes accompagné de riz, salade et fèves.
La Selva propose une ambiance intime et chaleureuse avec un service attentif et des plats mexicains authentiques et généreux qui séduisent par leurs saveurs et leur fraîcheur, du pulpo a la plancha aux tacos Jefe, Gobernador et Gringa Carnita, sans oublier le tartare de thon et le ceviche, ainsi que les chilaquiles et les desserts chocoflan et tres leches; les cocktails bien équilibrés, le mojito au concombre et les margaritas, complètent le repas à des prix raisonnables; le cadre de quartier est cosy et convivial, propice aux sorties en famille ou entre amis, et les intolérances lactose et gluten sont prises en compte; réserver à l'avance est conseillé car l'espace est petit, mais l'expérience offre l'impression d'un véritable voyage culinaire mexicain.
Amazing food & cozy authentic vibe! Great service too. We went with a big group & had many different dishes & drinks & they were all really great. 10/10!!!
This is the best Mexican restaurant I ever ate at. The food was authentic & so tasty! Don't miss the dessert, we had the chocoflan & it was amazing. The service was also really friendly & helpful.

I think my fiance & I have found our new favourite Mexican restaurant in MTL. We are always on the hunt for good authentic Mexican food & this place really hit the spot. Our recent favourite has gone a little downhill for us as of late so we were so happy to stumble onto this place @laselvamtl
We really couldn't decide on just one thing, we rarely do, so we had to get a bunch of stuff! We got the octopus & the tuna tartare dish to start. Honestly so plesently surprised I didn't think tbh the octopus would be so tender & flavorful as it was. I know Mexican cuisine from what I've seen doesn't feature octopus so often but it was cooked as well as some of the best I've ever had. We saw like every table around us order it so we knew it was a must. Same with the tuna, light, fresh & full of complexity.I didn't expect to have in a Tartare with raspberries!
For me the star of the show was the Taco Jefe. It comes with four corn tortillas that really lend to the authenticity of Mexican Cuisine. Thinly cut ribeye with homemade chorizo an absolute must & then you get the added freshness from the grilled onions & Cactus all tied together with some cheese. Really a 10 out of 10 dish. Super impactful, bold, & extremely good portion very Hardy Taco in itself!
My fiance, her favourite was the'mini' quesadillas, the Gobernador. It was very different from a traditional taco or even quesadilla that I've had it came in a blue style tortilla with shrimp & cheese which I thought would be odd but actually really goes together very well along with some grilled vegetables Chipotle mayo & some guacamole & pico de gallo to tie it all together. I would also opt to ask for their two homemade hot sauces very spicy both of them even for someone who likes spicy but also very flavor forward!
Last but not least we have the Gringa carnita which is layers of pulled pork with cheese, vegetables, guacamole & other goodies packed in between two flour tortillas. Toasted on both sides so they get nice & crispy & the cheese melts evenly throughout!
The staff is very attentive, charismatic & friendly. The food is authentic & delicious! The place is small & cozy, with a family atmosphere that will make you go back & bring more friends & family to discover this local gem !
The Chefs are friendly & mostly, very talented & passionate! All the flavors they create are worth 5 stars & are sure to make you travel to the sunny country where they find their origins.
The tacos are heavenly, & make sure to give the'Pulpo' a shot, you won't regret!
Sometimes we go for just a Pulpo appetizer & a drink.
My Partner & I always have the best time there, & leave feeling like we come back from a nice Mexican Vacation...

I recently ate at this Mexican restaurant & honestly, everything was delicious. The quesadillas were incredible perfectly filled, melty, & full of flavor. Every dish had that authentic taste that makes you feel like you're in Mexico.
The service was great, the atmosphere was super friendly, & the portions were generous. A great find. I'll definitely be coming back!
Awesome restaurant ! It's a small & quaint restaurant that feels really authentic, the vibe was great & the music not too loud which was really appreciated. I had the vegetarian tacos & they were really good with rice on the side. The cocktails were not like the ones you see everywhere, but really good cocktails I had never heard of ! The service was also really good, the waitress was really nice & efficient. You can definitely see she knows what she's doing ! Anyways, love the place, will come again & would definitely recommend to anyone in the area !
I had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic Mexican restaurant that truly embodies authenticity & passion, free from pretentiousness. I ordered the fish tacos, & they were absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh & perfectly cooked, & the combination of pickled cabbage & guacamole created a beautifully balanced flavor profile. The chef-owner generously offered us complimentary frijoles & ensured we were well taken care of throughout our meal. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking an authentic taste of local Mexican cuisine in the heart of the Plateau.
A perfect home away from home! Being Mexican & living in the UK it's a struggle to find such delicious & authentic Mexican food. This is just that! Fantastic food & wonderful service & ambience. We' can't wait to come back to Montreal just for the food here!
After years of searching, I think I finally found the closest thing to an authentic Mexican restaurant in Montreal! The guacamole was superb, as were the beef & chicken tacos. The octopus entree was amazing & the coconut milk flan was perfect!

For anyone who needs the real taste of mexican flavors & those who love authentic warm & happy atmosphere this is the place. A jewel in Montreal, the place is tiny but the experience is enormous. Live music with Chelo/Marcelo is the best!!! Can't say enough, you have to experience it yourself. Every single dish was deliscious but my favorite were the fish tacos OMG!!! Will be back! Thank you La Selva Définitivement, ne marque pas goûter la vrai nourriture mexican 💯 🥰
Joli petit restaurant de quartier! On s'y sent au Mexique à l'occasion d'un bon repas typique de ce pays. Le ceviche & les tacos y sont délicieux. Je recommande chaudement ce sympathique petit troquet pour la gentillesse de son personnel & l'authenticité de la nourriture qui y est servie.
Ce restaurant tout simple a été une belle surprise pour tout mon groupe.
On goûtait l'authenticité des mets & l'employée qui nous servait était d'une grande gentillesse & d'une grande efficacité. Nous reviendrons assurément. Merci pour cette belle soirée!
Great place to have a mexican dinner. Everything tasted good although beware that it is not the fully 'authentic style' you would find in most parts of Mexico (the gringa was different with changed ingredients & they had crispy fish tacos). Still good!
Omg, this place was absolutely delicious & authentic, we loved the extra spicy piquante & the atmosphere was calm & inviting. We will definitely be going next time we’re in Montreal. We had the steak tacos.
