Very cosy place with fresh Mexican food & great margaritas. You're not sad u just need to come spend an evening here !View more
It's important to note that you need to reserve in advance, as the place is very small.
The pulpo a la plancha was amazing! It was perfectly cooked & seasoned, the vegetables were a nice addition. With the Mexican plate, you choose the meat. I chose the fish & it was fantastic, I totally recommend. The carnitas tacos were good, though they needed the additional sauces. The special beef tacos were okay, a bit strange that you dipped the beef tacos in beef juice. Overall nice spot & atmosphere.View more
Small Mexican restaurant with delicious food & friendly service. The drinks were made with fresh ingredients (no margarita mix!), the food was so tasty & the staff were very friendly. Would recommend making a reservation as it's small inside.View more
Very nice little Mexican restaurant, serving mostly soft shell tacos. The dishes are quite filling! Most places I've been to serve just 3 small tacos that leave me wanting more, but here the plates are large enough to actually be a meal.View more
Pretty good Mexican place. Really liked their tacos, but got one of their specialty that looks like quesadilla & it was like 50% onions inside & that was way to much, not super appetizing. I would try it again though.View more
Really decent Mexican food. I like the option for corn or four tortilla. Guacamole portion is a bit small if you order the dish, but nice you get some with your tacos.View more
The best chilaquiles in Montreal! It's so hard to find good Mexican food in Canada & this place was incredible :) only tried their weekend brunch, excited to try more!View more
I had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic Mexican restaurant that truly embodies authenticity & passion, free from pretentiousness. I ordered the fish tacos, & they were absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh & perfectly cooked, & the combination of pickled cabbage & guacamole created a beautifully balanced flavor profile. The chef-owner generously offered us complimentary frijoles & ensured we were well taken care of throughout our meal. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking an authentic taste of local Mexican cuisine in the heart of the Plateau.View more
Came here for my birthday dinner with a few friends. Although they didn't really have notice to do anything about it, they didn't really have anything in store for my birthday so it was just a regular dinner. Not that I had expectations but it is always nice when a restaurant does a little extra something out of acknowledgment for a birthday, it made me think that another restaurant would have been a better choice for my birthday. Mexican food is some of my favourite though which is why I chose this place. The prices are alright. Menu has mid-level of variety, a bit more than just tacos & burritos but not much more. The overall quality is not bad but not impressive either. I think the high ratings for this place are not reflective of this. For the prices they are charging it's reasonable food. I ordered a Mojito & I have to say that drink was pretty amazing though. Pretty rare I like a drink more than my actual meal but this was the case here.View more
Excellent service, the octopus & the coconut flan are a must. One of my favourites Mexican places.View more

A perfect home away from home! Being Mexican & living in the UK it's a struggle to find such delicious & authentic Mexican food. This is just that! Fantastic food & wonderful service & ambience. We' can't wait to come back to Montreal just for the food here!View more
After years of searching, I think I finally found the closest thing to an authentic Mexican restaurant in Montreal! The guacamole was superb, as were the beef & chicken tacos. The octopus entree was amazing & the coconut milk flan was perfect!View more
For anyone who needs the real taste of mexican flavors & those who love authentic warm & happy atmosphere this is the place. A jewel in Montreal, the place is tiny but the experience is enormous. Live music with Chelo/Marcelo is the best!!! Can't say enough, you have to experience it yourself. Every single dish was deliscious but my favorite were the fish tacos OMG!!! Will be back! Thank you La Selva Définitivement, ne marque pas goûter la vrai nourriture mexican 💯 🥰View more
This is the best Mexican food I have ever had!! I have traveled to San Diego & live in the Boston area & I will say that I have never had such tasty Mexican Cuisine like I have at La Selva! We shared a Green Salad, Octopus dish, Carnitas tacos & Chicken Tacos. Everything was flat Ful & fresh!! The staff at the restaurant are extremely nice & always smiling!! I cannot wait to return to Montreal & comeback to this restaurant for more food!! Gracias!!!!View more
I've already been 3 times & intend on going again. The atmosphere's very pleasant & cozy, the staff is extremely friendly & the food is excellent. On the Food; there's a good variety of items (tacos, quesadilla, sea food, etc.) to chose from as well as being within a very budget friendly range. Favorite items so far has been the Tacos de Asada & the grilled Octopus (forgot the Menu item name but it's currently the 6th image when viewing the restaurant on google). Be sure to ask about their Nachos (new item they've recently added). Additionally, book your reservations online ! There's limited seating available & they an be filled very quickly. Overall, excellent food served in a very cozy environment. Strongly recommend if you're in the mood for Mexican food.View more

My husband & I came to Montreal from NYC last November for our anniversary. We ate at La Selva. Everything from the friendly & welcoming service to the food was FANASTIC!! Did not disappoint. Was a great place to eat real Mexican food for a special occasion.View more
We were headed to a different restaurant. Walked by LaSelva. We went to the other restaurant & had an appetizer. Was not impressed, by the service or cost of drinks. Also the menu was in French which was fine but one waitress told us to take a picture of it & translate it…..wow
Decided we would walk back to La Selva for dinner. So glad we did. They were full, we were going to leave but the kind waitress said we could sit at the bar. The lady at the bar was so nice to us. A table came available, I asked if we could sit there. The owner of the restaurant came & cleaned it (that doesn’t happen in any place I have been too). We sat & ordered a delicious meal. I ordered quesadillas, was not excepting the rice & salad that came with it. It was so much food. My Husband had the Gringo? He could not even finish it, & he usually can.
The owner came & chatted with us. He speaks English, Spanish, & French & so do the other employees.
What I really liked is the menu was in French & English. Did not find that in many restaurants.
It’s a small but quaint restaurant, service is amazing & the employees were amazing. The owner was saying he took it over about 6 months ago.
So next time your in the area of Montreal 862 Rue Marie-Anne Est
& like Mexican food give it a try. So worth itView more
Great place to have a mexican dinner. Everything tasted good although beware that it is not the fully 'authentic style' you would find in most parts of Mexico (the gringa was different with changed ingredients & they had crispy fish tacos). Still good!View more
Good small authentic Mexican restaurant in a residential area. Hidden Gem!
