La Scacciata attracts broad praise for authentic Sicilian sandwiches built on house made focaccia that’s crispy on the outside and soft inside, with crowd favorites like Milanese, porchetta, Parma and Agrigento and ingredients shipped from Italy that elevate the fillings; the bread and arancini are often highlighted as standout, and real gelato imported from Italy is noted by some as a nice bonus. The atmosphere is described as warm, cozy, and welcoming, with friendly staff and a family vibe, plus an outdoor terrace that’s great in summer. Service can be slow or uneven at times according to a few reviews, but many describe attentive and caring service that makes guests feel at home. Coffee and drinks are generally good, though one comment mentions espresso being a touch acidic, while pizza is seen as solid but not always exceptional and sometimes pricey for the portion. Overall, La Scacciata is viewed as a must try for those seeking fresh, flavorful Italian sandwiches and homemade bread, a neighborhood favorite for casual lunches or meals with friends, with many returning for the variety of sandwiches, arancini, pasta and desserts.
It was my first time here & I got so disappointed because the food & the selection is amazing but the service it's horrible, the 3 girls on the counter on Saturday were so rude & one of the girls just slammed the food on the counter like I wasn't paying for my food or I was begging for something
We order 3 times & the 3 were very rude, even my friend was shocked about their attitude
Seriously the sweetest staff! Was walking around Montréal with a friend back in May, & an older gentleman who I assume was the owner asked us to come inside. It was amusing, so we did. We ordered Aperol Spritz, & he gave us free lemon pastries!! Upon finding out it was my birthday, I was given free tiramisu! He talked to us the whole time & was incredibly funny & kind. He made us promise to come back next time we are in Montréal, which I of course will!! Very fun!
Great addition to the neighbourhood! Approved by my difficult Italian friends. Focaccia on the sandwiches is always great, food is fresh & the boys are welcoming! You guys should post an updated menu online!
As my first time in Montreal, I was visiting for a concert with a friend & this place was one of the ones in walking distance to the theater. Clean with a good atmosphere & plenty of seating as it wasn't very busy.
INCREADIBLE sandwiches made in house, with the kitchen making the bread by scratch in the back. Definitely could not complain about the food for sure.
Super yummy & a great place to sit & relax

It's one of those places where you take a bite & then your mind starts planning for your next trip back. That sandwich was the best by far I have ever tasted. Thank you Pino. Loved it
The owner John is a Beauty… his uncle is even better! The food is delicious & the service is 10/10. Great spot, great people & a the best sandwhiches & arancini! Ask them for the stuffed peppers, a real Italian classic! Highly recommend

Come for the food drinks & coffee, stay for the awesome staff & vibes. Hands down one of my fave spots in Montreal. Can't recommend enough! 5⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?
Forget your usual lunch spot. This is a game-changer! La scacciata is a family-run Sicilian joint that feels like it was teleported straight from Italy.
The food is just... honest-to-god incredible. The star is the bread they use for their sandwiches, the'scacciata.' It's this magical focaccia-like bread that's crispy on the outside but soft & airy inside.
Whatever they pile in between it-whether it's the perfectly crispy Milanese or the legendary porchetta-is ridiculously fresh & flavorful.
Don't even look at the menu too hard. Just walk up & ask them what's good today. Trust them completely. You'll end up with the best sandwich you've had in a long, long time. & if they have arancini available, get one. Don't think, just do it.
This is the kind of place you'll find yourself making excuses to go back to. It's not just lunch, it's a whole mood. You'll leave happy, I promise.
