Restaurant La Perle in Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Boulevard St-Jean serves fine Thai and Schezwan cuisine using fresh products. Buffet served at your table and menu à la carte. Restaurant La Perle is renowned for its General Tao chicken and its Hunnan dumplings. Contemporary decor and casual ambiance. Savour over 115 dishes, wide array of dishes for vegetarians, La Perle also boasts an excellent wine selection, beers and non-alcoholic drinks.
La Perle is described by many as a staple and one of the best Asian spots on the island, prized for fresh flavors, popular items like shrimp toast and peanut butter dumplings, and generally friendly service when staff are on hand, though some visits are marked by slower service and gaps in attentiveness. Several reviews note changes since the COVID reopening, with dishes sometimes tasting drier, prices higher, and portions or pacing varying especially during peak times or Sunday lunches, leading some patrons to question if the experience still matches memory. Despite the mixed notes, a strong current of positive sentiment remains, with frequent praise for takeout quality, consistent flavor when at its best, and a willingness to return; others describe it as less essential than before, seeking other options in the area. In sum, La Perle remains a widely frequented West Island option with a favorable core for many, but the overall experience can feel uneven depending on timing, staffing, and expectations.
We just left the restaurant
We had a great time
Food is one of the best we've had so far.
We ate so much we had to be rolled out haha
Exceptional service
Thank you so much
Food is not well seasoned. Server who took our order wasn't able to explain well the food & how it is prepared. Servers would just pick up an empty plate without asking which I find rude. They are not accommodating as well if you have any food allergy restrictions. Parking: free outdoor parking Payment: cash, credit & debit. 4% discount for cash payment.
This used to be a great all you can eat restaurant. They closed it for 2 months. Now, it's not the same. Be careful about "all you can eat" part. If you ask for more than one of the popular dishes, you must insist & must insist & must insist to get them. It's really annoying (I am talking about peanut butter dumplings & canape). We waited for over 1.5 hours for main dishes. We were 6 people & ordered 3 peanut butter dumplings & 2 canape for entry. After 0.5 h we got only one & one. They insisted that they are going to bring them later. Didn't happen but after a heated discussion with the waiter. Still didn't get ever our second canape asked. In general, the food is very good, but it used to be better.
Stay away from this placé it only thinks of money. Not food. Service is very Low. They can not deliver on time. They can not serve what you want. Everything is a big deal. YOU CAN PAY BY CASH . WHERE IS THIS MONEY GOING. .
