About us
At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.
The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

via LibroLa nourriture est très bonne & vaudrait 4 étoiles. Mais l'accueil, le service & le confort des tables laissent malheureusement à désirer. Une fois le restaurant bondé, ça devient bruyant & on a du mal à circuler pour se rendre aux toilettes, remettre nos bottes & notre manteau, etc. Je me suis sentie coincée. Je n'y retournerai probablement pas.

J'ai apprécié l'accueil chaleureux, le repas était présenté dans un grand plat, de façon très conviviale, tous mes invités étaient ravis. Cependant, il faudra penser à rendre les sièges vraiment plus confortables en ajoutant coussins & appuis pour le dos.

via LibroBel accueil & bonne bouffe réconfortante! Les tissus au plafond, sur les murs & sur les bancs & leurs couleurs vives réchauffent même quand c'est l'hiver & qu'il pleut. En plus, on enlève ses souliers à l'entrée: on se sent chez soi.

via LibroWonderful! It's very liberating to not have to worry about what you are ordering. They just tell you what is being made that day, & then bring you some pita, hummus & dal style soup. Would highly recommend this place & would definitely go here again, maybe with a bigger group as that seems like a nicer way to experience this place.
