Checked on by the chef. & treated like we were their special guests (everyone in the restaurant got this treatment). My niece & I had one of the tastiest & happiest dining experiences in many years. &, the value is superb.View more
Such an underrated place in my opinion! Supper is served by special: the chef's selection for the evening, which means that you get to sit back, drink delicious mint tea & be served the flavors of the moment in a beautiful, cozy setting. They even had a gluten free option for my partner! Very romantic, great spot for a date 🌹View more
A hidden gem in Montreal, this Mauritanian restaurant offers an authentic African dining experience that transports you straight to the heart of the continent. The moment you step inside, the warm ambiance, traditional decor, & carefully curated atmosphere immerse you in a blend of North & Sub-Saharan African culture. The calm & welcoming environment, paired with a friendly & skilled chef & team, makes every visit special.
The menu features rich, flavorful dishes, including perfectly prepared couscous & aromatic tea, served with a touch of Mauritanian hospitality. Whether you're here for a casual meal or a cultural experience, the setting, food, & atmosphere make you feel like you're sitting in a traditional African gathering, surrounded by the essence of both dessert & savanna life.View more
View more
Arrived with no reservations & the place was packed out on a weekend night, the owner still received us with open arms. Be prepared for a culture shock as this is not your typical dinner spot, but still an amazing unforgettable experience. Felt like eating at a family members house, no menus just whatever the chefs cooking. really yummy & great experienceView more
À bientôt 😊View more
View more
This cute restaurant serves up quality food in great quantities, & the menu is predetermined by the chef/owner based on what was cooked that day, which is an interesting touch that ensures you get the fresh food of the day. Because everyone eats the same food, it creates a nice ambiance in the restaurant. Performances add to the sense of community! However, service can be slow & sometimes inattentive. We were not served or offered water for the entire length of our meal, & there was not really an opportunity to flag down someone about this given the set up of tables.View more
Amazing experience, the chef is the nicest person ever & the couscous is soooo tasty & rich in flavor, the lentils soup is amazing ! 10/10 would recommendView more
:)View more
One of the best meals I've ever had. Loved having the chef & owner interacting with us, & his song at the start of the meal was a blessing I will not soon forget. Dishes were flavorful yet simple. How good meals should be done!
Delicious food & chef was very accommodating. Atmosphere is unique & elevates the entire experience.
Couscous !!!! Apportez votre vin. Le the...pas tres typique. Tres bon service !
The staff in this restaurant were amazingly accommodating & friendly. Food portions are seemingly endless (we had to leave food on the plates & they STILL offered more). The chef treated us to an amazing tea from his home town in Africa & the atmosphere was perfect. Definitely a place worth visiting in large groups.
Truly amazing place,
Had my family hear for a post- wedding celebration. They served more food than we could eat & even offered more without extra charge of whatever we wanted.
Atmosphere was beautiful & the food was authentic, complete with Hibiscus tea from the chef's home town.
I will definitely be returning in future.
Belle ambiance, service courtois, proprio & chef sympathique, nourriture exquise.
Bon service. Je vous recommande ce restaurant.
The chef comes to see you in person & explains his daily menu. He is super nice. The food is just amazing & the portions are very generous you will not leave hungry. the tables are almost ground level & you remove your shoes to enter this very north african style deco. it can get a bit uncomfrotable to sit so low though for hours, but its a wonderful experience!
We were here with five of us. We were met at the table by the chef & seated in the lovely restaurant. There were I've of us, all vegetarians. We ordered the vegetarian cous cous for all five of us, & were told we would get some appetizers. We got one small bowl of hummus. The table next to us with two people got the same amount of appetizers. When our meal arrived, a bit cold, we noticed that it took as the same size as the platters being served to tables of two. At one point I asked if we could have another appetizer & the server told us they were out of it, but kept bringing it to other tables. It seemed a bit odd. They were very busy, the service was chaotic & the servings were either way too much for two people or not enough for five. I think it is a nice atmosphere & people enjoyed themselves. We did, but found it to be over-rated & subpar.
