About us
At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.
The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

via LibroThe food is amazing, really flavourful & filling & the spices were so authentic. The tea at the end of the meal was a real highlight/ just like I remember in Marrakech. The place does get a little warm as there isn't any air conditioning but they leave the doors open to try to circulate some air through. it kinda feels like you're in someone's home. Recommend to anyone who enjoys trying something new.

Une seule ombre au tableau... sur les 3 plats que nous avons partagés : couscous de poulet, de boeuf & végétarien, AUCUN LÉGUME !!! C'est tellement bon avec cette cuisine... Cela m'a manqué. Je suis revenue moins enthousiaste que les 2 premières fois...

Ça prendrait plus de « Maroc » - nous étions 7, & tout le monde a apprécié - même les grands de 6 pieds qui ne pouvaient glisser leurs jambes sous les tables 😉

via LibroThey got several things right but not the whole experience. Service is on top of the list. Food comes short of expectations for those that have travelled to that part of the world. Nice try but at $30 for a lot of couscous does not make me want to go back until maybe 6-9 months.

Intimate yet simple & slightly-worn decor with mostly wood benches covered in colorful textiles that recall the North African menu. The low seating & limited leg room complicates matters for bigger/taller/limited mobility clients, but if you're prepared for that heading in you should have a very pleasant meal. & oh yeah, BYOB! There's a great shop with a mind blowing array of microbrews just a few streets over on the corner of St. Laurent & St. Viateur, so stock up before heading over.
