About us
At la Khaїma (nomad tent), at 142 Fairmount in Mile End, we enter into a nomadic world, a journey through colors, flavors and sensations. Once inside, African music accompanied by a rich fragrance emanating from the kitchen complete the multi-sensory experience that transports you to the Sahara. Couples can enjoy an intimate setting while large groups benefit from Moroccan salon comfort, eating from a long, low table.
The founder, of Mauritanian origin, greets guests and his joie-de-vivre warms the atmosphere. The cuisine is African with a nomad touch. Dishes are prepared with local products following the “Slow Food” concept, creating uniquely spiced tajines that offer an unparalleled taste experience. In accordance with the tradition of the desert, guests share large platters tasting all the flavors on offer, with enough to satisfy even the most demanding of appetites.

J'y suis allée un vendredi soir avec une amie. Accueil correct, décor un peu plus défraîchi que sur les photos. Il faut retirer ses chaussures. En hiver, apportez des chaussettes si vous êtes frileux. Sièges très bas, évitez les jupes courtes &, si vous avez des problèmes de dos, cet endroit n'est pas pour vous.
La soupe est arrivée tiède, nous avons demandé qu'elle soit réchauffée, ce qui a été fait gentiment. Elle était plutôt quelconque, manquait de parfums. On ne goûtait ni le citron, ni les épices.
Pareil pour le hummos, j'en fais du meilleur.
Les plats de viande étaient plutôt bons (ce soir-là, boeuf aux dattes & poulet aux olives), mais les lentilles étaient totalement insipides. Un ou deux tronçons de carottes y baignaient, sans plus. On aurait aimé des courgettes, des aubergines, quelques légumes, quoi!
Bref, on ne va pas là pour la gastronomie, il y a bien meilleur à Montréal. Peut-être pour l'ambiance, mais même là, c'est un peu surfait. Je n'y retournerais pas.

via LibroLe couscous avec les 3 sauces était bon. Malheureusement le thé était sucré. Belle ambiance , la.serveuse était super sympathique. Faut faire un effort pour la salle de bain.
via LibroTrès très belle place ! Le staff est incroyable , la nourriture est surprenante, c'était excellent nous avons tout manger à 3filles! Il n'y a seulement pas de verre à vin, nous avons bu dans nos verres d'eau mais ce n'est même pas grave ! On recommande à 100%!

From taking off one's shoes (which I like, myself) to the universal offering of the menu, be ready for a different experience than the run-of-the-mill restaurant. There is a set menu, with three choices of dishes to accompany the main meal on couscous the night I was there. It was recommended to have a little of all three, which I did. There is no other menu! The food was absolutely delicious! I wish I lived closer to Montreal & could come back again!
