So, this was my experience at La Grange Urbaine, an establishment advertised as an Italian restaurant, but is it really? Serving calamari with pasta sauce? I don't think so.
The food overall was okay, but the service was absolutely horrendous. I honestly don't think I've ever experienced worse customer service, which makes me wonder: is this the staff's doing, or a reflection of how the owners train them?
This was during our staff Christmas party (16 people). We arrived around 4:30 p.m., & by 5 p.m. we were still waiting for two people. One guest asked if she could place her order since she needed to leave by 5:45, but was told no because we were only allowed to order once everyone arrived. She ended up leaving without eating.
We were then asked to get up & move down two seats so they could free up a table in case of walk-ins, even though we were already mid-conversation & enjoying our wine. In the end, no one ever used that table.
We were seated for almost an hour without being offered water; we had to ask for it. Midway through the meal, someone asked if bread came with the table & was told yes BUT only if we asked for it. Another guest ordered garlic bread & was asked if she wanted cheese, without being informed it was an extra charge. She only found out when the bill arrived. At one point, someone was even nudged on the head three separate times.
When the bills were brought, the server finally asked how everything was. I shared my concerns, & suddenly his customer service skills appeared… too little, too late. Shortly after, who I assume was the owner emerged from the shadows & put on a bit of a show. I repeated my concerns, & he offered us bignets. Instead, we were given a mini panettone, which I can only assume was gifted to him, as it wasn't even on the menu. I guess he tried to save face. If that's the case, at least bring what you offer not a mediocre dessert.
Long story short, do yourself a favour & don't waste your money. This is very much a you had to be there situation. The experience was far more baffling in person than I can even describe.
Oh & by the way, salt your entrance.

On nous invite à quitter le restaurant sans nous avoir dit, au préalable lors de la réservation, qu'il y avait un deuxième service, c'est fâchant. De plus malheureusement le restaurateur n'applique toujours pas correctement la loi sur le pourboire, 7 mois après sa mise en vigueur.
Mais malgré tout leurs pizza sont succulentes.
Nous étions 4 car nous avions des certificats cadeaux. C'était la première & dernière fois. Restaurant très très bruyant! Les plats sont généreux mais sans plus! Nous avons commandé 4 assiettes de pâtes & nous avons attendu 40 minutes pour les recevoir. Nous avons vu la serveuse deux fois! Quand elle a pris la commande & apporté les boissons ensuite quand elle a apporté les assiettes. Aucune excuse pendant pour le délai! Quand nous sommes sortis, j'ai payé une partie avec le certificat cadeau & une autre débit! J'ai vite calculé le pourboire que j'ai quand même donné! Mais il manquait 2$ pour le 15%! La serveuse a tout de suite commencé à argumenter! Que le pourboire était de 15% & que je n'avais pas donné assez! De son gros sourire qui finalement était pas très honnête, il ne restait plus rien! Je suis restée bouche bée! Il ne manquait que 2 $. J'ai voulu faire une autre transaction débit mais elle a finit par dire que c'était correct! Mais bête! Complètement inacceptable!!! Même mes enfants adolescents sont restés bouche bée! À bien y penser le service ne valait même pas 15% pour 40 minutes d'attente & un bruit incroyable! Service très hypocrite & restaurant trop familial où les tables des clients très connus sont servis avec des privilèges & probablement prioritaires! Très très déçus!!

Première fois & ... dernière!! À l'accueil, un type aux cheveux gris sans façon, pas de bonjour, l'air bête nous amène ou plutôt se rend à une table & on devine que c'est celle-là!! Bon, il a peut-être passé une mauvaise journée! J'opte pour une entrée de saumon fumé à 18.95! Très petite portion, quelques câpres & pas plus d'oignons! Le serveur m'en rapporte! Lui, il est aimable! Comme repas principal, crevettes gratinées avec une lèche de sauce tomates!!!!!!! AYOYE! Même pas digne d'une restaurant 2 étoiles! Caoutchouteux & sans saveur! Présentation à l'image du goût! Le restaurant est bruyant mais je m'y attendais! Soyez prévenus car si vous vous attendez à des bons mets italiens (exception de la pizza), allez ailleurs! Le monsieur aux cheveux gris avec le tablier a été très correct & souriant! Je me rappelle très bien! Cependant, je parle d'un autre à l'accueil début cinquantaine ...............!!!!!!!!!!

La Grange Urbaine is absolutely phenomenal! As someone who used to work in the industry, I can confidently say this place is top-tier - from both a staff & customer perspective. The restaurant is super clean, including the kitchen (which most people never get to see - spotless!).
The pizza is incredible, full of flavor, & cooked to perfection. The interior is warm & welcoming, & the wood-burning fireplace adds an amazing aroma that makes you feel right at home. The staff are friendly, attentive, & clearly take pride in what they do.
Excellente nourriture. Service très négligé. Le serveur n'aime clairement pas son travail.
Pas de sourire, pas de communication. Rien
De plus, on n'a pas le droit de commander une entrée en attendant nos amis. On doit tout & tous commander en même temps.
Ça fait plusieurs années que j'y vais. Jamais été aussi déçu de l'expérience à part l'excellente cuisine. Malheureusement, la bonne nourriture ne suffit pas à faire le succès d'un resto.
Food was amazing, first time we went, service was slow!!! We will return but now we know the service is slow! Never make a client ask for bread or more water!! Good thing the food was great!!!! Thanks!
Very popular BYOB restaurant but disappointing food, especially given the prices.
Ordered the Caesar salad with chicken & a simple cheese pizza.
The romaine was limp & soggy with dressing & the chicken obviously ( & poorly) reheated.
Barely any sauce or cheese on the paper thin crust pizza.
La Grange Urbaine offers an exceptional dining experience. The food is consistently high-quality, thoughtfully prepared, & beautifully presented. The staff are both welcoming & professional, creating a comfortable yet polished atmosphere. I've visited both as part of a group & with one or two friends, & the service & ambiance have been equally impressive each time. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a refined yet approachable dining experience.
Très bonnes pâtes & pizza, personnel gentil & attentionné. Un peu bruyant si on a des appareils auditifs.
