Review Summary

Taken together, reviews of La Grange Urbaine praise the Italian menu, especially the wood-fired pizzas and pastas, with many noting flavorful dishes and a warm, cozy atmosphere; however, portions can be uneven and some plates feel pricey for what is served. Service is described as friendly and attentive on some visits, but several experiences report slow pacing, inconsistent timing of courses, and a sometimes noisy, busy dining room. The BYOB option is appreciated by guests, and overall the restaurant remains a popular spot for gatherings, with the food widely regarded as delicious despite mixed views on value and service.

So, this was my experience at La Grange Urbaine, an establishment advertised as an Italian restaurant, but is it really? Serving calamari with pasta sauce? I don't think so.
The food overall was okay, but the service was absolutely horrendous. I honestly don't think I've ever experienced worse customer service, which makes me wonder: is this the staff's doing, or a reflection of how the owners train them?
This was during our staff Christmas party (16 people). We arrived around 4:30 p.m., & by 5 p.m. we were still waiting for two people. One guest asked if she could place her order since she needed to leave by 5:45, but was told no because we were only allowed to order once everyone arrived. She ended up leaving without eating.
We were then asked to get up & move down two seats so they could free up a table in case of walk-ins, even though we were already mid-conversation & enjoying our wine. In the end, no one ever used that table.
We were seated for almost an hour without being offered water; we had to ask for it. Midway through the meal, someone asked if bread came with the table & was told yes BUT only if we asked for it. Another guest ordered garlic bread & was asked if she wanted cheese, without being informed it was an extra charge. She only found out when the bill arrived. At one point, someone was even nudged on the head three separate times.
When the bills were brought, the server finally asked how everything was. I shared my concerns, & suddenly his customer service skills appeared… too little, too late. Shortly after, who I assume was the owner emerged from the shadows & put on a bit of a show. I repeated my concerns, & he offered us bignets. Instead, we were given a mini panettone, which I can only assume was gifted to him, as it wasn't even on the menu. I guess he tried to save face. If that's the case, at least bring what you offer not a mediocre dessert.
Long story short, do yourself a favour & don't waste your money. This is very much a you had to be there situation. The experience was far more baffling in person than I can even describe.
Oh & by the way, salt your entrance.

Since I dont have the option to reply to your response, I will do it this way…

It's truly humbling when someone takes accountability instead of simply making excuses 😉
Buon Natale e vi auguro che nel nuovo anno possiate rivedere e migliorare le aspettative legate al servizio clienti della vostra azienda. 🎄

We were at the restaurant for a family celebration. There was a set menu. A wide assortment of Italian staples flowed out to our tables non-stop. Everything was delicious. The meatballs & focaccia made a great combo. The pastas were all cooked perfectly & sauced just right. The pizza was fresh & light, & well cooked. The calamari melted in your mouth. Our group of servers were like machines, managing the tight spots like pros. I told the owner that I will not eat for a week!!! I am stuffed. For an authentic Italian food experience, you can't go wrong here. We will definitely be going back.

I spoke to Tony, to make reservations for our group of 16, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary & my sister's birthday. I explained that my grandson is autistic & doesn't do well in crowds.Tony was very accommodating & reserved a corner space, away from too much traffic. Although noisy, I was grateful we had our private space & my grandson enjoyed himself & made our celebration extra special. A big THANK YOU to the whole staff for .being so efficient & friendly . The food was fresh, delicious & served hot. The pizzas were baked to perfection. (We are Italians, we know what good food is. We all agreed & rated our different dishes 10/10!) The complementary focaccia with spicy olive oil was a nice touch.

Love the quaint wood paneling atmosphere during the holidays. Food is very good & reasonably priced. Find it funny to be called "Urban barn" in french but serving mostly italian food.
