Review Summary

La Cave du Parapluie offers an intimate and lively atmosphere featuring a well-curated wine selection and creative small plates that many visitors describe as fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. While the staff is widely praised for being friendly and attentive, experiences regarding the culinary offerings remain polarized, with some diners finding the portions small for the price and the overall value inconsistent compared to its sister establishment. The environment is frequently described as energetic and music-focused, though some guests find the high volume levels challenging for conversation, suggesting that the venue is best suited for those seeking a casual, social dining experience rather than a quiet meal.

I heard amazing things about this place but was quite disappointed! Went with a friend for her birthday on a Friday night. We chose to do a menu caché so didn't know what we'd be getting. Surprisingly we weren't asked how many plates we wanted or how our hunger was going throughout the night. Overall the dishes were good but not out of this world. We both found it generally under-seasoned. We didn't get enough bread with the pâté- & the waiter never told us that they ran out of bread until we asked for more. They also ran out of tartare.
Sadly the service was the most disappointing part for us- we weren't checked on, we kept to the same glasses of alcohol all night, even though we had finished them earlier on. It didn't seem like the server cared much for our being there.
We noticed only 1 person prepping food- maybe they were understaffed?
But at the same time we could see the server making time & taking shots with people sitting at the bar.
We asked for the bill early because our dishes were taking too long but the server insisted the food was coming (the table next to us had the same frustrations).
By the end (almost 3hrs after we arrived) our table & our neighbors table were given digestive shots as an apology but it didn't feel like enough to excuse the lack of attention throughout the night.
A really odd & unexpected experience!
Having eaten at parapluie, I had high expectations but this just didn't cut it.
Hopefully it was a one off night… I would go back but I'd need a lot of convincing to.

Tried to do a walk in for 1 at Parapluie. They were full & sent me to Cave next door. Ordered seafood & a French red wine… wow. Amazing food. Staff were very friendly & kind. Blew my expectations!!

Excellent petit resto doté d'une accueillante terrasse. Nourriture goûteuse & fraîche. Plats créatifs. Des propriétaires forts sympathiques. Bravo 🙌

Cute spot, nice wine selection. Lovely staff, although it seemed understaffed. The food, however... extremely disappointing & not very tasty. This seems like another tiny plates Instagram fad - like Montreal doesn't already have a trillion
