La Catrina delivers a lively Mexican dining experience with bright flavors, generous portions and a welcoming atmosphere. The table side guacamole, flavorful tacos including birria and al pastor, fresh salsas, and tasty margaritas are frequent highlights, and the terrace or dining room setting keeps the energy upbeat. Service is described as friendly and attentive, helping the group-friendly vibe and steady pacing that keeps meals enjoyable. While a few visits note occasional wait times or price-related concerns, the overall impression is that La Catrina is a go-to spot for delicious food, vibrant ambiance, and reliable hospitality.
The menu posted online & the one at the restaurant are different, it is much more limited & the food was only okay. The view was nice & that is part of the experience. The waitress was rude, she said I had to get meat on the side with my tacos despite not eating meat instead of just not having it. She also said my food would be gross without it, perhaps reconciling the online menu with the true menu would help everyone know there is only 1 vegetarian option on the menu & 0 vegan ones. Would not recommend unless it is only for overpriced drinks, not the food.
First time there but definitely returning back for the tacos, we tried the Birria tacos & gotta say it was one of the best braised beef tacos in Montreal, also tried the shrimp tacos & unexpectedly I really liked it the shrimps were cooked perfectly, along with the drinks which were ok, the only down side were the guacamole & chips that didn't meet expectation the chips were really bad & the guacamole was mediocre, & I would say a few outdoor fans would have made life easier in summer.
N.B the service & manager of the place were above & beyond, very welcoming & accommodating which really made an impression one for the things to return back for.
This was our favorite stop during our visit to the Old Port. The most delicious tacos ever!!! We had the platter & ever since we have not stopped talking about it. Highly recommend the chicken & fish tacos! The service was wonderful & the drinks were tasty. We went during'Taco Tuesday' which was busy, but the staff was still on top of their game. We are eager to return!
First thing that i noticed was the high prices, especially for the drinks. It's a very tourist oriented place… I ordered simple tacos & waited for 45 minutes. The food was disappointing & I would not go again.
Service was great, atmosphere as well. Just good vibes all over. Even after closing time we didn't feel pressured to leave & kept having great service. The food was very good, perfect portions & the drink we were suggested were excellent & fit exactly what we wanted. We even got an off menu drink that should definitely be on it: the guava margarita 👌 Good old port terrasse choice!

visited for a team event.. table was really tight for group of 8.
Would expected Mariachi music or even Corrido's.
Would recommend the Molcajete . Maybe not the place for the PIE Ribeye, highly priced. Well aware is a tourist area...doesnt need to be a touristTrap.
**Seems reknowned for the drinks Terrace was full **
Nice small place for cocktails & tacos. Relax ambiance, great music playlist. Service was friendly, tacos were good but choices are limited. I will definitely go back, especially for the delicious birria beef tacos. Margarita drinks were really good & lets not forget the tasty guacamole dip, so yummy!!

Amazing service with the most friendliest staff the manager Yannick did an excellent job on making us feel like home. Food & drinks were excellent. The ambiance & vibes were just immaculate 10/10 recommend it for everyone that's looking for a great time & great foods with spectacular service.
Great spot for food & drinks. Tacos were on point & we've had tacos in different US states & countries. Margaritas were delicious too. On the small side but the food & drinks made up for it! 100% recommended.
The drinks were good & so was the guacamole. They make the guacamole at your table so that's nice. Location is nice too, we sat at the terrace. Prices are decent especially for old-port. The food though was underwhelming. We chose the quinoa salad & taco taste menu which was chicken, fish, pulled beef & vegetarian. The pulled beef was way too salty the fish was soggy. The only one sorta worth eating was the chicken one. Maybe it's what we chose to eat but I probably wouldn't go back.
