Review Summary

Overall, La Cage draws mixed reactions: many praise the lively sports-bar atmosphere, big screens, and attentive, friendly service that handles large groups well and makes it a good spot to watch games, while others report slow or inconsistent service, seating that feels crowded or poorly positioned, and occasional billing or menu misunderstandings. Food experiences range from standout and well prepared to ordinary or disappointing, with some items described as bland and occasional concerns about undercooked bacon. Pricing is a recurring point, with some guests finding it expensive for what is offered, while others feel the value can be reasonable or that cocktails and drinks justify the visit. Extras like complimentary popcorn and a convenient location near the arena are frequently noted, along with the overall vibe being loud and energetic; however, mood can dip when noise, crowding, or service misfires detract from the experience.

Really big brewery/ restaurant/ sports bar. I came pretty late & it was so going. The servers were a bit inattentive but the beer was really good. High priced though. Good for watching sports or a place for big groups of downtown.

Best mashed potatoes I've ever had. It is a sports bar. It's loud.

Decent bar, higher rating because they were able to accommodate our large party (of 25+ people) without a reservation!

The food & drink are that of a typical bar. Service was decent given how busy it was, but definitely not anything to rave about.

We had their wings, poutine, & nachos. They were all serviceable & well seasoned.

Drinks were strong! I got a cocktail & was surprised at how strong it was.

Space is nice, attached to the arena, so it was bustling with folks from the concert. A good place to go for pre drinks or post drinks & snacks.

Very good, but very interesting as the young gentlemen working the bar made a comment to a few regular patrons leaving to have a good night & that he is a nice tipper. Of course the gentlemen asked what necessitates to be a nice tipper? The gentleman's first words were 20%, nothing to do with anything else. His failure to acknowledge tips should be high if the quality of service & food was very good! It was shocking, being that he never asked how was my meal, or if I needed anything, if I wanted another drink, which I had to ask for myself or inquire about anything at all! Yet I still gave him a 17% tip with no thank you or any appreciation, or maybe even say have a nice night, the only thing he said was that we close in 20 minutes. Such a,' we are entitled' generation!! Try working for your money with world class service or even try some service excellence! Go figure that should come into play for higher tips!!!

Great service. Our server (Kariane) was friendly, welcoming, pleasant, helpful & honest! Two hours after dinner, I realized I had lost my credit card. I returned to La Cage (where I had last used it) & was amazed that our server had found it & kept it safe for me. The ambiance is nice for a sports-themed restaurant/bar, & especially for fans of the Montreal Canadiens. After all, it's connected with the Bell Centre. The food was fine for this kind of place. Fried cauliflower appetizer. Burger. Poutine. We kept it simple. be honest, the poutine was lacklustre. The gravy was lukewarm & weak. The cheese sat there, big & chunky; it wouldn't blend with the fries or even slightly melt as I stirred it up. I've had enough great poutine in my life to know this wasn't representing Montréal. Perhaps the cook had an off night? It happens. The goalie can't always block every shot. Anyway, the free popcorn made up for the poutine & the cold Murphy's Irish stout & Griffintown craft beer made it all quite alright. We were there at 5:00 pm on a Friday (non-game) night. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, but it was becoming busier. We walked by on a Saturday (game night) & it was super-busy, but looked like people were having a good time. Good drinks. Cold beer. Fast & friendly service. Decent sports-bar food. Nice ambiance. Great location. Honest staff. All in all, a good experience. We'd return.

Nous nous sommes arretes à la brasserie sportive en fin de journée pour boire un verre. Rien à redire sur l'accueil, serveuse souriante & agréable. Au niveau du service, serveur très souriant, chaleureux. Je recommande ce bar sans problème.
