The fries weren't anything special, the sauce was oddly thick & extremely salty & it didn't have a lot of cheese curds. There was a lot of meat on the poutine, all of it extremely salty. The spicy sausage hot dog was supposed to have a creamy coleslaw & you can see from the photo that there was hardly anything there. Would not recommend.
You know I think it would be a good idea to open up like a lil cart where you can serve people outside at least the basic poutine options & that way you can get the line going faster faster - like a hot dog stand but instead of hot dogs it's poutine. Ezpz
A great place to dine, a must visit, but please don't go for anything else other than the poutines! I tried the veggie hot dog & it was awful; the creamy coleslaw was pretty good tho to be fair. Their poutine is yummy but I've had better. Yet, the experience is absolutely exceptional! So yes, I do recommend this place very much!
The poutine is exceptional. So so so good. Even the simple steamed hot dog was extremely good too. We were here at around 11:30, so right before it got busy. We were seated right away. By the time we left it was packed.
Heard of this place almost 20 years ago but never visited until last night after a Just For Laughs Festival show.
There was a line with about 3 parties ahead of us but we only waited 10 minutes for a seat indoors. As for seat outdoors on the terrace the bouncer said "forget about it", it was really full.
I had the Kamikaze poutine which was quite spicy & good. The two other people with me also enjoyed their poutines. Two of us had the regular size which was more than enough. I didn't find that the large size was worth the 50% price premium.
Price for 3 of us including tip & taxes was $50 (no alcohol).
I've had better poutine in the West Island (Montreal Hot Dog Station in Pierrefonds) but the massive variety of poutine topping options at the Banquise was impressive.
Definitely worth a try.
Hot dog, poutine & pepsi!!!
I always love going to La Banquise for their huge choice of poutines, lunch, dinner or after a night out.... lol
I have tried the many of the different poutines & my favorite have to to be the Taquise, (guacamole, sour cream adn tomatoes) if I need some meat I get the L'Abrevoir (sliced pogos :)) or the Mart (Hot dogs, bacon & mushrrom)
Service is very good this being that it's a constant rush sometimes.
If you are going there between 3-4 am be ready to wait, it looks like the outside of a Club with a line up & bouncers.... You also see your regulars walk in :( .... just like some clubs LOL
