Everything was made fresh, & all the ingredients & flavors were in perfect balance. The owner was also wonderful - friendly & attentive, & focused on making a great meal to please his customers. Merci!
When I first set foot in La Baguette Parisienne, I was impressed by the pricing. Looking over their menu, I found an array of sandwiches, each sounding even better than the last. Not to mention a poutine at the low, low price of $5.50.
'Wow,' I thought to myself,'If the food here is even just passable, then this may be the best deal in this great city of Montréal.'
Had I known what I was in for, I would have turned on my heels & escaped before it was too late. Upon entering, the person behind the counter refused to serve me in my native French, opting to respond to me only in English - curious for an establishment with Paris in the name, but I digress.
(I write this review in English for the ease of comprehension of the management)
Once my family & I had ordered, we watched the staff in the back take an appropriately Parisian amount of time to prepare the meals. A few sandwiches & a poutine took nearly one hour to prepare. The occasional glance behind their curtains would reveal the singular staff member unscrewing jarred pickles at an escargot pace.
'Perhaps a sign of craftsmanship,' I assured myself.'What could possibly go wrong now?'
By the time the food hit the table, I realized the gravity of my mistake. The meals, although appealing in their presentation, were lacking in their ingredient composition. The titular Baguette Parisienne was no more than a $0.99 loaf from our local Maxi. The poutine was the most interesting to me. It would seem that all restaurants in Montréal are under the impression that they are legally mandated to serve poutine. This one, however, takes the novel approach of repackaging McDonalds poutine & serving it in their own cardboard bowls. Very avant-garde.
Once all was said & done, I'd gotten what I'd paid for. If you are looking for a cheap bite & are in no particular rush to eat it, or if you like your poutine in soup form, then La Baguette Parisienne on Avenue du Parc is eagerly awaiting you.
Great food, good price, really nice family owned place. Highly recommend
Hands down the tastiest truffle steak sandwich & truffle fries I've ever had! The owner was super friendly & explained us how he & his partner came up w the idea of making their truffle fries different than traditional truffle fries. Truly so worth it! Proportions are huge & worth it according to the price.
The food was absolutely amazing. The one served at the cash was friendly. A must try!
My family & I came all the way from New York. The sandwiches were soo good, we are going back again to get more before our trip ends. If your in Montreal this spot is a must !!!
The fresh sandwiches on a crispy baguette or colourful bowls packed with delicious ingredients are perfect when you need a quick bite without settling for fast food.
The cute Parisian-inspired theme gives the place a cozy charm.
We tried a few of their sandwiches & bowls. We, surprisingly, really loved the fries. Crispy, well-seasoned, & absolutely worth ordering... especially with their truffle sauce. That alone might be enough to convince us to come back.
Bedtime now but I did indeed say I'd leave a review after having lunch here today. Had the truffle cheesesteak sandwich, really perfect. Steak was tender, sauce had subtle flavours that worked just right. But what impressed me the most was the baguette. Just the right crustiness on the outside & chewy breadiness inside. I learned that they cook their baguettes fresh throughout the day. Was just really good. & the manager or owner (I'm not sure which) is topnotch in service & a true gentleman to chat with. It is a simple looking place & real easy to recommend
Went in randomly for a quick snack when i saw they had truffle fries on the menu, & i don't regret that. Be whimsical, go to la baguette & try the best truffle fries ! The prices are super affordable too ! & its halal.
