Cutlery dirty. Food caked on my plate was not a good start. Waiter was only waiter working. Nice guy but he was hard to track down when needed because he was too busy. Not coming back ever again. Food was ok but very expensive. Did I say I'm never coming back again ? $60 a person , no alcohol is way too much for some pasta.View more

I came on Wednesday evening at 8.20 pm & they said that they had to close because it was not very busy. although there were 2 large tables (approx. 20 people), I don't think it's very professional to do this when it says on google that you close at 10 p.m.View more

We went here as a big group & had a set menu to choose from (soup + main dish). The onion soup was good however tasted a little too salty. I order the Chicken Campagnola & the chicken was well cooked & was well seasoned. I did find the portion a little too small. The service was good, our waiter was very enthusiastic & would check up on us. We did have to wait some time before getting water & bread starter. It was a good atmosphere, wasen't too busy & easy to find parking.View more

Although the food was quite good, the portions are relatively small for the prices they charge. Service was awful. Had to ask multiple times before a waiter even came to see our table. Was told no modifications or additions could be made to a dish because they were so busy...but the restaurant was half empty. Will not be returning.View more

Food was very good. Fresh, tasty, lovely presentation. Sadly, service sorely lacking. Water never refilled. Bread was never brought - even though server told us it was in the oven & would be there in a few minutes. Yes, we reminded them. No, it was not busy & they did not appear short staffed. Lots of space between tables. Muted decor. Accessibility very good.View more

We were a party of 6. I had dined in the past at the other locations which the food & service were excellent. However today this location in pointe claire left much, much to be desired. We ordered 3 salads. 2 Ceasars & one Arugula. The Arugula we sent back as the leaves were yellow & going dry. The lasagna we ordered was unedible. Was cold in the center the cheese had curds & the egg had a very strong odour. The seafood pasta was also very bad. That too we didn't eat. The rest of the dishes were also poor quality. The Cesar's dressing was not up to par. We reserved for 3pm. We got our food around 4:15. Seems the staff was busy with other chores. We paid our bill in full & left. Very disappointed really. The waiter asked us if everything was to our satisfaction. We raised our complaints. He saw that we hadn't eaten most of the dishes. He then asked us if we wanted to take them with us....View more

I've eaten at this location about a half-dozen times, exclusively for business-related luncheons; can't recall being disappointed once.

Sizable menu in a BYOW setting makes L'academie a moderate-priced destination. The food is above-average, but in this diners opinion, comparable to other like-style bistros. The service is always on-point & professional, with only one slow-service experience (attributable to a fairly busy lunch crowd). Would definitely re-visit this resto.

I've eaten at this restaurant twice, & would go back again. It's reasonably priced, & there's a good selection on the menu, & the food is decent. That being said, I would have given it another star if they used a bit less salt (in the soups in particular) & did not serve canned mushrooms with my Veal Marsala--locally grown fresh mushrooms would have elevated the dish considerably!

My wife ordered the Mussels with an Italian (Marinara?) sauce, & it was fairly good, but lacking something--perhaps more basil, it was tough to say exactly, but otherwise still tasty.

The fresh bread they serve is excellent, with a nice chewy crust & soft & fresh within (perfect for dipping into the Mussel sauce!

The decor is modern & pleasant but the noise level was high the day we were last there as it was a Sunday & thus very busy, with more parties taking place, & this is to be expected--it's better during weeknights.

Considering that this is a chain, I'd say everything is good, better than expected, & also as a BYOB you don't get raked over the coals on the cost of wine, making it a much more affordable choice than many other places with a similar menu.

Most customers will be satisfied with their meal, & the service, which in general is friendly & fast, although will be slower during the weekends when they are very busy!
