Kyodai Izakaya offers an authentic Japanese pub vibe with a cozy, lively atmosphere where fresh, flavorful small plates like takoyaki, gyoza, karaage, tataki, ramen and udon are served hot and nicely presented, paired with a varied sake and cocktail menu. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, helping guests feel at home and making meals feel special whether for a casual night out or celebration. The space, decor and music contribute to a welcoming character that many describe as transporting to Japan, while the menu delivers strong favorites and occasional standout dishes such as unagi udon, duck tataki and curry katsu. In short, Kyodai Izakaya is a dependable go-to for tasty Japanese tapas, great drinks and a memorable, convivial dining experience.
Food is not good, we took the the eel with rice, salad in the plate was older then my 74 year old mom. Really dry pieces that we had to take out from the plate. Sashimi were so-so , but with such attention to the freshness of salad I was afraid to eat it.
Our waitress, Asia, was just a ray of sunshine! She was so welcoming & thoughtful, anticipating our every need & making us feel right at home. Her recommendations were perfect, & her warm, friendly spirit truly elevated our entire dining experience.
We came in unannounced with only 30 minutes, & we got a delicious meal worth writing a review over. Amazing service, good food. I recommend the tempura.
A Japanese bistro in the heart of Concordia University. A friend & I went from the Museum of Fine Art to this place walking along & appreciating the night life.
You enter & the atmosphere invites you to sit & relax & eat.
Beautiful venue. Great food. Will be going back regularly.
We love izakayas & Japanese food.
This one has fun ambiance, friendly service & excellent seat/table spacing.
We particularly enjoyed the takoyaki (octopus filled dough balls), the Gohanmono (eel rice bowl), & the Katsu dishes (kind of like Japanese schnitzel) - both the regular & curry version (my partner thought his was not hot enough, temp-wise).
We had a great time… fun place for an enjoyable night out. I thought it was well/accurately priced.
Definitely want to return for the Gohanmono & maybe some more tempura for starters, & we have yet to try the korroke (mashed potato croquettes), & the karaage (fried chicken)…
Lots of variety on the menu! 👍
Such a great place! We got dishes to share & they were so friendly & prompt. Food was amazing! Will be back for sure. Plus they have mocktails, extra good.
