Kyodai Izakaya delivers authentic Japanese pub dining with a warm, immersive atmosphere and a welcoming, energetic crowd. The menu spans ramen, curry, tempura, gyoza, takoyaki and sashimi, with crowd favorites like duck tataki, karaage and udon drawing frequent praise. Sake, cocktails and warm house sake complement the dishes, while the service is consistently friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The decor and vibe recall a traditional izakaya, making it a great option for groups, friends or a casual night out. Reservations are helpful on busy nights as the place can get lively, yet staff keep things moving smoothly. A few items may be smaller or pricier, but the overall quality, flavor and memorable experience leave guests eager to return.
Good looking Japanese pub & amazing service. As for the food, Kyodai Izakaya is a jack of all trades but master of none; it's good, just not great. Everything you eat here is done better elsewhere in more specialized restaurants.
The chicken skewers are ok, the ramen is decent but needs more meat (you only get a single slice of chashu pork) & the curry rice is good but I've had much better.
Nothing really stands out here, unfortunately. It's just serviceable.

Belle découverte! Beaucoup beaucoup choix de SAKÉ 5/5 ❤? Drinks 🍹 excellents! La nourriture est très bonne , Tataki de Canard 🦆👍 Ramen 🍜 & Udon 🍜 👌 Le service est bon. Belle ambiance! Cheers 🥂
A solid 3.8/5 . Would be higher if every dish was on par but some were really there specialty & others are alright but a bit pricy & lackluster compaired to those that specialise in those items... (like a sea food restaurant for thise dishes or a ramen place for those... etc.). Quality was a solid 4/5 for the most parts. Quantity wasn't for all dishes . BUT if you ask them there specialty & popular dishes they were a solid 4/5 . But I rate as a overall place. So taking consideration of all of the above it lost a tiny bit from the 4/5. Still a decent experience for this little place.
Was there last night & I absolutely loved my experience. Food was really good & the staff were all amazing. Spicy ramen tantan is a must. Shoutout to Eddie!
Kyodai Izakaya is a restaurant/bar near the Atwater Subway Station that is Izakaya-style. That alone sets it apart from most Japanese restaurants you find in Montreal: sushi & ramen being the two typical offerings.
I thoroughly enjoy visiting that restaurant, I have been multiple times. The waiters & waitresses are all very friendly & the food is very good. I particularly enjoy the Tempura Combo Set, which is hard to come by on the island of Montreal.
I thoroughly recommend going: perfect for a solo traveler looking to play retro Nintendo games (yay Switch 2), or perfect to go as a group also! I only wish they were open for lunch hour as well.
Hate to say I was disappointed, but there are several better Japanese options in Montreal at this price point.
Lovely atmosphere & friendly, albeit slower service. Overall pleasant experience, but I unfortunately cannot recommend the food.
The appetizers were mediocre; the octopus balls were quite chewy. We ordered the black garlic ramen & the tantan ramen. I found the broth to be not as flavourful as I hoped, & the portion to be small. Incredibly steep price for only one thin sliver of pork & half an egg.

First time here & I absolutely love it !!! The space is nice to come with your friennds & or family to drinks/cocktails & the FOOOD absolutely delicious! We left satisfied with the amount of food given & the attention to details! I highly recommend the tempura as well as the ramen with karaage + chicken katsu
(Edit: Eddie has spoken with me directly & provided a great response to my review with an apology. Thank you, Eddie for taking the time out of your day to try & make amends of last night & using this opportunity to address this with your staff. 🙏🏻)
I went here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday with a large group of people & the experience was not great. I'll start off with the food: the chicken teriyaki was too overly sweet. The ramen & katsu was okay. The duck tataki was good but over priced for a small portion.
The service was so slow, they provided us cups but forgot to give us water & had to wait for awhile for it. They also mentioned they will give us a birthday shot & cake on the house but they never delivered rhat.
We also got our food one after another each time someone was pretty much done eating. & because of that it took us 3 hours to complete dinner. I was fed up since we had somewhere else to be, so I told one of the waitress & kitchen staff about how I felt with the service being slow they never apologized & spoke back to me with a passive aggressive tone.
It would have been understandable if the waiters took their time to check in on us to let us know if they were understaffed & apologized for the inconvenience but it baffles me that our large group was barely proactively checked in on throughout our dinner.
The only acknowledgement I got was from Eddie after leaving saying'thank you for your patience.' (Still 0 apology from anyone) At that point it was too late, this was a terrible birthday dinner. All of us agreed that this was the slowest we had ever ate at an establishment.
My feedback to your staff is if someone is providing criticism on your service & how they feel with the experience, it's important to acknowledge the customer to make them feel heard & attempt to de-escalate the situation by simply apologizing & do something proactive in resolving the issue. Nothing was done after… had there been 1 single proper apology I wouldn't be writing this review.

The food was great! Our daughter loves ramen & had the Ramen Noir-she absolutely loved it. The shrimp'Ebi' & the udon were also delicious. Eddie & Luna were amazing & made the experience even better!
First, the waitresses were amazing! Very friendly & patient. Couldn't get my darn scanner to work & the girls were a big help. The food? Well, just perfect as far as I'm concerned. I know ramens, & the Tonkotsu ramen I had was ON POINT. I couldn't get enough of the broth. Chapeau au chef! My son had the beef tataki with rice on the side. Can you say'tender'! Simply melts in your mouth. & that sauce...Yeah, I had to try some. It was worth every penny spent. Loved it & will definitely go back. Spread the word, baby!
Great izakaya place close to the Forum. Went there for a movie night & I enjoyed some takoyaki & had ramen, which were really good. The ambience is awesome, properly themed after Japanese izakaya & playing non-stop city pop & 80/90s anime theme songs. Will definitely go there again.

Impeccable service with a smile! The food (ramen & karrage) was very good. The only reason I removed 1 star for the food is because I've had better (more meat, juicier karrage) elsewhere. Beautiful interior with Japanese music playing which adds to the atmosphere!
Best Ramen in town for sure. Their tempura is really good as well. It is served in a fancy salt but it's really amazing & a must try. Been there twice already. Weekdays are quiet but on the weekend make sure to reserve in advance
