J'y retournerai, encore & encore !View more
We ordered the yakitori (chicken skewers), karaage (fried chicken), & katsu curry rice.
The karaage was especially disappointing, the chicken was extremely hard, with tendons inside that made it difficult to eat. It broke apart oddly with the first bite, & not in a good way. The yakitori skewers were very tiny & lacked flavor; definitely not what I expected. As for the katsu curry, the sauce was very basic, & once again, the chicken was tough & overcooked.
Overall, the experience was underwhelming, especially considering the texture & quality of the chicken in every dish.
I'm only giving this restaurant 2 stars because the service was good. Otherwise, the food itself would have been a 1-star experience.View more
The server who took our ten top was super friendly & gave amazing service even though we came last minute. He suggested me to grab the shrimp tempura & it was very fresh with a refreshing sauce. Our table ordered a bunch curry dons. He's super knowledgeable about the GTA which was really funny & surprising & took good photos of us. The only small con is no potatoes in the curry & I kept biting into onion thinking it was potato. Honestly worth the 6 hour drive & the speeding ticket we got otw to MTL would go again!View more
The shrimp tempura was delicious, but that was the only menu item that I found to be excellent.
The Tako Wasabi was spicy, definitely cleared the sinuses with its strong wasabi flavor but I found it to be way too salty.
The Chicken Katsu was very disappointing. The chicken was somehow very dry & didn't taste like much, & the Japanese curry was mild as well.
The Angel's Tears cocktail was yummy. But it straight up just tasted like aloe vera juice with a dash of alcohol.
The cherry blossom decor in one part of the restaurant is beautiful.
Definitely bar-type lighting. I wouldn't recommend this place for a romantic dinner.
They didn't have physical menus available. Only QR code menus.View more
Went to kyodai Izakaya for the first time today, & what an amazing surprise!! We ate korokke, the curry katsu & a bowl of ramen. Everything was absolutely delicious! The korokke & Katsu were so wonderfully crispy, pork was juicy too! The rice was perfectly cooked & the ramen was simply delicious. The staff was friendly & polite & caring, always making sure we were fine without being abnoxious. We simply had a wonderful time.View more

One of the best experience I had at a restaurant, the ramens are very tasty as well as the chicken curry 🤤View more
So good my husband got the eel fried rice & I got the curry so yummy! Just visiting from NS & you can't get food like this there next time we are back to Montreal we will definitely go again. The atmosphere is fantastic & the cocktails are yummy!View more
The decore & ambiance were amazing & the service staff was great. Our waitress was only on her second day, but you could have tricked me. & the food was amazing, I'm definitely going to make this my new spot downtown. The Japanese Katsu Curry was amazing & so was their seafood pancake. The warmed sake takes a while, but was delicious.View more
Ramen: good quantity, broth could be thicker, good meat Curry katsu: very creamy, nice crunch, chicken a little chewy Food came out fast!View more
Kyodai Izakaya exceeded all my expectations with its impeccable service & mouthwatering dishes! A special shoutout to Eddy, who went above & beyond by accommodating us with a custom drink change. His attention to detail & warm hospitality truly stood out. The katsu chicken with curry rice was nothing short of divine. Every bite was pure ecstasy, perfectly cooked, & bursting with flavor. To top it off, they surprised me with a delightful green tea cake to celebrate my birthday, which was both thoughtful & utterly delicious. Kyodai Izakaya is a must-visit for anyone looking for exceptional Japanese cuisine paired with outstanding service. I'll definitely be back!View more
Super nourriture & service. Ambiance super chaleureuse. J'ai adoré le l'assiette de curry.View more
Wonderful service from smiling individuals that clearly know their food is awesome. Like daaaamn! That katsu curry bowl was so tasty it healed my soul from the inside. 😌 Oh, & that mackerel appetizer was easily the best of its kind I've tasted in this city. The umaminess was off the charts! 📈 - Will definitely be returning to sample the full menu. 😋 This is also a great place to bring a date or have a chat with a friend. Music is tasteful yet not so loud you can't hear each other speak. (Other restos, take note!) ps: If you spend more than $25 before tax you can accumulate stamps towards free goodies like appetizers or a plushie of their logo.. cute!View more
Great hangout spot with amazing vibes! The service is amazing, & the decor resembles the japanese izakaya alleys. The food is good & affordable, & the menu has a ton of variety so there's something for everyone. I recommend the engawa tataki, the kitsune udon, & the curry rice bowls. Disclaimer: my meal was comped, all opinions are my own.View more
Love this place , love the takoyaki & katsu curry !!View more
Food was out of this world. I had the pork Katsu curry & it was fantastic. Dumplings & all these other appetizers I tasted were also really good. The only thing that was lacking was the cocktail menu. None of their drinks had descriptions, so you had no idea what was in them, & the staff had to go & check anytime we asked. Aside from beer & sake, that was all they had, which was a bit disappointing.View more
Our first stop on our Montreal trip, service was superb, atmosphere is a vibe , food was astounding. Will definitely 100% recommend this place ! Curry chicken Katsu & the chicken karaage were our favourites ❤️🔥View more
This was excellent! Food was on point Japanese. Duck tataki is out of this world good. Curry & ramen both absolutely on point. Excellent imported plum wine. All the tapas style food was fantastic. Staff loves their job & it shows. They were able to whip up a delicious mocktail for my friend who doesn't drink without an issue. 5 of us went & nothing hit the table that wasn't great. Give it a try you wont regret it! Apologies for the duck photo we were to excited & ate some before taking the pic 😜View more

Incredible food, & tremendously kind service. We will definitely return. Thank you! (Will not recommend the Ramens , strongly recommend the Curry rices)View more
Their Chicken Curry Rice & Tako Wasabi are absolute delights! The chicken curry is rich & flavorful, while the Tako Wasabi offers a refreshing kick. The scallops are ok A must-try for Japanese food lovers!View more
As mentioned before, I like to come here mainly for the alcohol. The best food would be their fried selections. It has fried chicken, shrimps, veges, etc. They also offer healthier food for those days where I came in hungry. Mostly known for their curry rice or their noodles. Although sometimes I feel quite stuffed, I never felt uncomfortable after pigging out unlike other places. It feels healthy I guess?View more
Très joli restaurant trouvé par hasard. La nourriture y est très bonne, malgré les portions un peu petite (sauf pour les plats principaux). Nous avons pris plusieurs entrées à partager. Le curry tonkatsu était super.View more
The atmosphere is Great! Staffs are very friendly, we ordered two appetizers & two curry rice, the price is fair enough, food is average.View more

After the relaunch
I was super happy to hear that Tempura Kyodai is back after closing for a while with a change in the management (apparently?). So I went with my family for a Saturday dinner. Honestly, we were disappointed.
First, the menu shrank by a lot. In the main dishes, all the rice bowls disappeared leaving only the hot udons & the curry rice. There are a lot of appeatizers (tapas style). With an increase in the prices too.
For the food, it's not as good as before. It's ok, I can eat it but I can go anywhere for this generic taste. The ebi tempuras were my favorite so I ordered them again, it was my biggest disappointment. Sure, it was crunchy but so oily. There is not this elegance that was previously in the dishes.
Plus, as there were customers, the cooks in the kitchen kept bashing, I suppose the chicken or pork, for almost 30 minutes...
Anyways, tempura kyodai is not what it once was.

Before the relaunch (pictures from then)
Tempura Kyodai is a cute restaurant with great atmosphere & excellent food & service.
Let's start with their specialty, the tempuras. They were excellent. I truly recommend the Ebi tendon which is a bowl of tempura featuring fried shrimps & veggies on rice.
The soft shelled crab curry is up there too. It's the best Japanese curry I have eaten. It's not too sweet & the spices is pronounced enough.
Then, there is the Soba. It's a simple dish, but it's done right. It's very elegant & light, perfect for summer time. The flavours are really balanced here.
The last but not least, the mackerel udon. During winter, who can resist it? The broth is light but so complex. The udon are thin but chewy. & the grilled mackerel complement it well.
Other than main dishes, they have appetizers & specials of the day. Like the Ebi tempura or the monk fish liver. All are delicious.
Overall, Tempura Kyodai deserve their name. Everything was delicious & it's not expensive. You get a huge main for around 20$ or less.
We will be coming back for sure!View more
The unagi curry was delicious & arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. Crispy unagi was the right size for the dish. Service wall friendly. The place wasn't busy at all but we went early evening. A little dark inside.View more
-Went there during a less busy time.
-The indoor decors really complements the atmosphere.

-ordered the unagi udon ( the soup was delicious), the anago curry rice ( just perfect !!!!) & the karaage ( portion was a bit small for the price, but tasted good)
