About

Krapow specializes in bold Southeast Asian flavors, focusing primarily on the aromatic complexity of Thai street food and vibrant Indonesian staples. The menu centers on the signature holy basil stir-fry, which provides a foundational heat that characterizes much of the culinary identity here. Each dish incorporates fresh chili, garlic, and traditional aromatics to ensure an authentic representation of regional spice profiles. Beyond the core protein-driven stir-frys, the kitchen explores fusion techniques that balance savory umami notes with subtle sweetness and acidity. The atmosphere remains focused on efficient service and the delivery of intense, spice-forward recipes served in a casual, functional environment. Patrons find a reliable selection of regional classics that emphasize the raw, unfiltered intensity of traditional cooking methods practiced across Indonesia and Thailand.

What reviews say

Krapow is highly regarded for its delicious, authentic Southeast Asian cuisine and its impressively wide selection of gluten-free dishes, making it a safe and favorite destination for celiac diners. Many guests frequently praise the flavor profiles of signature items like the beef krapow, beef rendang, and laksa, often describing them as fresh, well-balanced, and comforting. The service is consistently highlighted as warm, friendly, and attentive, with staff members who are knowledgeable about the menu and happy to accommodate dietary needs. While some diners mention that the restaurant spaces are cozy or limited in size, the vibrant atmosphere and overall quality of the food make it a must-try spot in Montreal that encourages repeat visits.

One of my fav restaurants Montreal! I used to come here every other week, even though the menu is small, I never get bored of their food. The rendang is so rich, so aromatic, blended all the herbs with beef. & the chicken is my to-go all the time. My friend tried the vegan laska once & she loved it too.

What I love about this place as an Asian is the not too sweet profile of the food, which all Asians care lol.

2026 new review : First time eating here in person & it was soso lovely. The server suggested I try the vegetarian special which was a red coconut curry soup called the Lodeh. It had eggplant, tempeh & other veggies & came with a side of lettuce, rice & corn. So fun & delicious. I was full after my meal. The service was so friendly & professional from start to finish & I loved sitting outside on the tables on the street. Such a cute spot, definitely check it out! I'll be back for sure. They have other vegetarian & vegan options
The beyond meat option & specials & other vegetarian specials are all out of this world. these pictures are of a couple of their vegetarian specials in May & July 2023. They may look similar but each one is unique. they keep making new specials so the fun never ends & I have to keep ordering them to not miss out 😩 the quality ingredients they use including the tofu make it so satisfying & the portion size is just right! I wouldn't mind a bigger portion though lol

I ate at the food hall location & was happy that the location was still totally gluten-free. I got the chicken sambal & it was a substantial amount. The bok choy was cooked perfectly & the chicken was delicious. I was worried it was going to be too spicy, but I was fine until my last few bites. The rice (& my gf beer) helped cool my mouth a bit. Having a gf spot in a food hall is so great. I'll be sure to return to one of their locations the next time I'm back in Mtl.

Very cute cosy restaurant with excellent service . However , the food was not what I expected it to be. I've had wonderful laksa & I understand it's inspired but it tasted like nothing & no spice at all. & no chili oil in sight . Ugh . The papaya salad was so bland where's the fish sauce at & the fermented fish sauce . I think it's catered to white folks which is fine. But hey wonderful service .

Service sympathique.
