Chops does it in a right way. The sushi was impeccable-fresh, flavorful, & artfully presented. Every bite felt like a journey of taste & quality. On the other hand, the burger was massive & packed with juicy, perfectly seasoned ingredients. The portions were generous, & it was truly satisfying. The ambiance added to the experience-stylish & elegant yet comfortable. The fusion of these two cuisines was unique, & I've never experienced anything like this before. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience that combines the best of both worlds. 5/5 stars-can't wait to go back!View more
If you're looking for a kosher dining experience that encompasses a bit of everything, Chops on Queen Mary is worth a visit. This restaurant has carved out a niche in the Montreal dining scene with its extensive menu: full Chinese cuisine, a robust steak selection, & even an array of sushi. Not to mention, their homemade desserts add a sweet touch to the dining experience. One of Chops' standout features is its impressive wine list, arguably the best kosher selection in Montreal. The inclusion of a couple of non-mevushal options is an unusual & exciting find that adds a layer of sophistication for wine enthusiasts. However, while the variety is commendable, I did find the overall pricing a bit steep, especially considering the quality of certain dishes. The burger, for example, was underwhelming-nothing memorable, which is disappointing given the expectations set by the menu's range & the restaurant's ambiance.View more
Okay the place has nice table cloths but this restaurant was a definitely a terrible schlocky ng experience & a waste of money. The Sushi is terrible, $12 for a miso soup, $25 for a small roll with fake crab with rice roll wrap, WTH. Very small portions of Sashimi & a $130 bill, crazy, plus you get take out chop sticks LOL. It may attract clientele due to being a kosher restaurant but the Sushi was way over priced & poorly prepared. The staff were friendly & apologetic but this place needs rethink their prices or severely improve the quality of their sushi or give up!!View more
Chops resto bar is the best kosher restaurant in Montreal by far
What a menu you can't find this menu in any restaurant kosher or non kosher & all the foods sushi Chinese steakhouse etc.. are delicious
So if you haven't been there yet you must go you pay for what you get
Whoever complains about tipping it is written all over the menu so instead of complaining just don't go
Not recommended if your a cheap miserable person
My experiences at this place were hideous & disrespectful.
I was ordering with my wife sushi take - away for Shabbat evening & due to allergy I specifically stated twice NOT to have Avocado.
When I came back to my hotel , I opened the order & saw that all of my Sushi rolls were with Avocado, although stating twice that I can't have it.
I called the manager of the restaurant & told him that I have an Avocado at my food & asked if he could sent a replacement. Since it was before closing at Friday he couldn't get it & sound stressed & uncomfortable, I told him that I could call 10 minutes later & so I did. After 10 minutes, he said that he is sorry but the food is locked & there is nothing he can do. This made me really stuck , I was suppose to spend the next 25 hours with only vegetables & bread that I bought at the last moment before Shabbat, & due to my religion I couldn't get a proper meal, since this restaurant serves kosher food, he knew how bad it is for me & promise me a compensation, telling me & my wife to come along at Sunday & he will take care of us. I've consulted with my wife & thought that a dinner plus a refund would be a fair deal, & this is what I told him when we finally came at Sunday.
His response was as following , & I quote : "You can choose anything from the menu" - A list of dishes with prices varies between 24 & 42 CAD . I told him that I am expecting a refund for the sushi I couldn't eat- which is exactly 36 CAD, & he said , & I quote again : "You can have only this dish, I see numbers & that is what it is worth for me". I told him that a dinner should be a fair compensation & I wouldn't think of ordering to priciest steak & drink all the bar dry, but still enjoy a dinner. My wife suggested that both of us will take a course & he was quick to fix her & told her , & once again I quote : "My apology is your compensation, I only see number & you can either take sushi at the same price again or any of the suggested one course per two person menu" . I told him that it is not acceptable, & that I staying hungry at Shabbat because of his careless mistake - he could check my reservation , & nor him or the cook cared too much to do so.
After we saw it is going no where, we asked for a refund only for my sushi , his response was that "due to the laws of Montreal he can't refund". Really? he drag us here , at the middle of the vacation, after I was hungry at the weekend , not standing on his word about getting compensation & not willing to refund us?
We had no choice & didn't want to leave our money there, so my wife ordered a course worth 28CAD & a dessert worth 10CAD.
I have never experienced such a rude, arrogant , non thoughtful & dishonest service.
You have been warned, avoid this place.
Amazing food - whether you eat kosher or not you'll love it. Very creative sushi menu & the steaks are astounding. The waitstaff is very professional, service is always great. The overall ambience is rare to find Montreal.. One my favorite restaurants for a nice meal out. Highly recommend.
We had guys night out here & overall we had a great time. For the style of the restaurant, & the quality of food & drinks I would say that it is 1 of the best kosher restaurants in the city.
We were seated right away because we reserved, & the food & drinks were delivered in good time. It's nice that the menu has asian food, sushi & regular north american food so everybody can find something they like. The sushi is good, the steaks are very good & the asian food is comparable to any classy restaurant.
The place is long & narrow so it might feel a bit small but we liked it because it was Saturday night & it felt like it was happening. I would recommend Chops & if you are a group be sure to reserve.
