Review Summary

Khao Peeyo is widely praised as a top destination for authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine in Montreal, with many diners highlighting the butter chicken and fresh, well prepared naan as standout dishes. The restaurant is consistently recognized for its exceptional, welcoming service and attentive staff who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant dining experience for families and groups alike. While the vast majority of patrons enjoy the cozy and relaxed atmosphere, the food is frequently described as fresh, generously portioned, and perfectly spiced, leading to high recommendations and many plans for return visits.

Very disappointed with this restaurant.

The moment you walk in, you're hit with a noticeable moldy smell. Then, when you scan the QR code to view the menu, you're bombarded with ads, making it feel like they're trying to monetize customers before you've even ordered.

The food didn't make up for it. The naan was burnt to the point that the bitter taste overpowered the entire meal. It was difficult to enjoy anything else on the plate.

To top it off, there was a group practicing their singing over a loudspeaker while we were trying to eat, making the dining experience even less enjoyable. The plastic plates & cheap utensils only reinforced the lack of quality.

Overall, this was the worst Indian restaurant I've been to, & I wouldn't recommend it.

Loved my experience at Khao Peeyo! The food is super flavorful & fresh, especially the butter chicken & naan. Great atmosphere & friendly staff - definitely one of the best spots for Indian food in Montreal. Highly recommend!

Food was good. I've been here before when it was still Tandoori King & now they've changed owners & the food is a lot better. We had the butter chicken & the lamb karahi with a couple of naans. Naans were not too thick which we liked.

Regarding service: We were the only ones in restaurant so it didn't make sense for us to have to scan a menu from a QR code, WATCH AN AD, & then see the menu. Like why… also the fact that we needed to go to the counter to pay when again, we were the only ones there.

Overall, a disappointing experience. The food was below average - the'chaat' starter was just papdi topped with dahi & chutney. The thali portions were too small, with insufficient dal & sabzi to go with the naan & rice. The restaurant itself feels rundown, & serving food on plastic plates doesn't help the experience. Won't be returning.
